Kapela

Meet Kapela!

Hi, I’m Kapela — a one-year-old Lab mix with a heart full of love, a tail that never stops wagging, and a hug ready for anyone who needs one.

When I first arrived at the shelter, I was in rough shape. Someone had left tight elastics around my neck, cutting deep and leaving me with a painful wound. It hurt to move, it hurt to breathe… but somehow, it never stopped me from loving people. Even as the staff carefully cleaned and tended to my wounds every day, I would press my head into their hands, give them kisses, and wrap them in hugs. I wanted them to know that no matter what I’d been through, my heart was still soft, still hopeful, and still ready to love.

Thanks to all that care — and maybe a little stubborn Lab spirit — I’ve been healing beautifully, inside and out. These days, I’m a wiggly, happy girl who greets life with a smile, a hug, and a tail that just won’t quit. I love long walks, backyard zoomies, and basically any excuse to bounce around like a goofball. Toys are my jam (though, fair warning, squeaky ones have a short life expectancy around me). And I’m such a foodie that training me is as easy as “snack in hand = Kapela’s undivided attention.”

The humans here call me a shelter favorite — part clown, part sweetheart, and maybe just a little dramatic when I flop onto the floor with a big sigh for belly rubs.

Right now, I do need a little extra help: I’m looking for a foster-to-adopt situation until my neck fully heals, and I’ll need someone who can continue my medications as prescribed. But if you can help me with that, I promise to bring endless love, laughter, and snuggles into your life.

I’m ready now for the chapter I’ve been waiting for all along: a family of my own. Someone to love me, laugh with me, and let me prove every single day that a wounded past can lead to the brightest, happiest future.
