Canada is scheduled to receive a flood of new COVID-19 vaccine doses this week, with around 3.3 million shots due for delivery from different pharmaceutical companies over the coming days.
This would mark the single-largest week of deliveries into Canada since the start of the pandemic. The shipments would come from three different sources.
The federal government also says Moderna will make good on its promised delivery of 600,000 shots this coming Thursday, which is about a week later than expected.
As of last week, Canada has received more than six million doses in total. Approximately 11% of the population has now received at least one dose.
The container ship that was stuck in the Suez Canal is now moving after six days.
Salvage crews pulled the vessel toward the Great Bitter Lake, a wide stretch of water halfway between the north and south end of the canal, where the ship will undergo technical inspection.
The obstruction has created a massive traffic jam in the vital passage, holding up $9 billion each day in global trade and straining supply chains already burdened by the coronavirus pandemic.
It was a long six days but the Ever Given has finally been freed from the Suez Canal. The Suez Canal Authority employed the Dutch dredging and heavylift company Boskalis to assist.
