The Chatham Maroons season is over.
The St. Catharines Falcons defeated the Maroons at Memorial Arena 8-2 Sunday night, sweeping the best of 3 Sutherland Cup Final.
Chatham won their first Western Conference Championship in 16 years and returned to the Sutherland Cup in 17 seasons.
Environment Canada has issued a Heat Warning for Chatham-Kent and Windsor-Essex.
Hot, humid air is expected to arrive today and last until Wednesday. Maximum temperatures on both days will be in the low to mid-thirties, with little relief at night.
Hot and humid air can also bring deteriorating air quality and can result in the Air Quality Health Index to approach the high risk category.
The Tau Herculid meteor shower is expected to light up the sky tonight – depending on the speed and distance of the meteoroids.
According to NASA, Earth will pass through debris trails left from a broken comet that was shattered in 1995. If we do, they’re predicting 1,000 shooting stars an hour, in comparison, a typical shower averages one meteor every minute, roughly 60 an hour; but they don’t know if it’ll happen or not.
“The issue is that because it’s the first time that we’re passing through this debris field, it might be that we’re actually going to pass just in front of it and we’re going to miss most of the really good big chunks,” NASA says.
NASA’s Meteoroid Environment Office describes the shower as an “all-or-nothing” event.
North American onlookers can look out for the shower at 1am. NASA’s advice to observers is to set up in a dark area and arrive early to allow your eyes to adjust to the darkness. “It takes about 20 minutes for your eyes to get used to a dark sky so be patient and whatever you do, do not look at your phone because you’ll ruin your eyes for the next 20 minutes if you do.”
Swedish driver, Marcus Ericsson won the Indy 500 Sunday.
He becomes 74th winner of The Greatest Spectacle in Racing. Sunday was the 106th running of the Indy 500. More than 300,000 fans were in attendance at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway to watch 200 laps, 500 miles (804+ KM).

It’s Memorial Day in the U.S.
It’s a day for honouring the men and women who have died while on duty with the U.S. military and it is a day where Americans across the country pay their respects, often by visiting military cemeteries or memorials.
The holiday is observed on the last Monday of May.
