Today is Groundhog Day.
Legend has it that if the groundhog sees his shadow, Winter will last six more weeks. If he doesn’t see his shadow, an early Spring.
An early spring has been predicted in Wiarton every year since 2019.
This year’s prediction will be the current Willie’s fourth. The albino groundhog from Cleveland made its first prediction in 2023 after the 2022 prediction was held virtually because of the COVID-19 pandemic, and featured a brown groundhog following the passing of the town’s albino groundhog from a tooth abscess in early 2021.
This is the 70th year Willie will be making a prediction. The Wiarton Willie prediction will be made at 8:07 a.m.

February’s full moon peaked overnight.
Known as the Snow Moon, it peaked at 5:09 p.m. on Sunday, appearing nearly full around sunset and low in the eastern sky. Astronomers say it will still look full tonight as well.
The Snow Moon gets its name from the heavy snowfall this time of year, some Indigenous groups also refer to it as the Wind Moon or Crow Moon.
March’s Worm moon will peak on March 3rd.
Four astronauts, including Canadian Jeremy Hansen, prepare for the Artemis II mission — a trip that will carry humans around the moon later this month.

Minute Maid is discontinuing its frozen juice concentrates in Canada and the U.S.

That includes its canned orange juice, lemonade, Fruitopia fruit punch, and Five Alive blends. Coca-Cola, which owns the brand, says the move is due to declining demand. The products will disappear from shelves by April.
Analysts say frozen juice accounts for just a small fraction of juice consumption, as shoppers now turn to water, lower-sugar options, and beverages like kombucha and prebiotic sodas.
