\"\"The Windsor Essex Health Unit<\/a> reported 32 new cases of COVID-19 Monday. Of the 32 new cases, 31 are connected to the local agri-food industry.<\/p>\n

For the eighth day in a row, Ontario reported a new caseload of fewer than 200. A total of 161 new cases was reported Monday with just three deaths.<\/p>\n

\"\"It’s complicated, but it boils down to this: The owners and the players were not able to come to a new agreement to spice up a shortened season, so the owners voted to proceed based on an agreement between the league and the Players Association from back in March.<\/p>\n

So the owners are forcing the players back onto the field with a shortened season and the players getting a prorated salary.<\/p>\n

They want the players to report to Spring Training 2.0 by July 1st, with the season beginning in late July. There will be about 60 games, which means the players would earn around 37% of their salaries, assuming that the shortened schedule is completed.<\/p>\n

The only way the season won’t happen is if the players strike, which is unlikely or if the coronavirus ramps up again.<\/p>\n
