\"\"This morning at 8am, individuals with health conditions deemed \u201cat risk\u201d and Group Two of people who cannot work from home can begin booking appointments. To see what groups fit in, go here.<\/a><\/p>\n

On Thursday morning at 8am, residents aged 40 and older will also become eligible to book. When eligible, book online at GetYourShotCK.ca<\/a> or call and leave a message at 519-351-1010.<\/p>\n

The province says it is on track to administer first doses to 65% of adults by the end of May.<\/p>\n

The cicadas are coming. Lots of them. Trillions.<\/p>\n

Within days, a couple weeks at most, the cicadas of Brood X (Roman numeral for 10) will emerge after 17 years underground. There are many broods of periodic cicadas that appear on rigid schedules in different years, but this is one of the largest and most noticeable.<\/p>\n

\"\"When the entire brood emerges, backyards can look like undulating waves, and sound like a loud lawnmower. The cicadas will mostly come out at dusk to try to avoid everything that wants to eat them, squiggling out of holes in the ground. They’ll try to climb up trees or anything vertical.\u00a0 Scientists say the only plants they damage are young trees, which can be netted. The year after a big batch of cicadas, trees actually do better because dead bugs serve as fertilizer.<\/p>\n

All that said, the massive number of hibernating insects may not be as noticeable in Southwestern Ontario. The Brood X will be in Delaware, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia and Washington, D.C.<\/p>\n
