Environment Canada has extended a heat warning for Chatham-Kent, Windsor-Essex and Sarnia-Lambton with maximum daytime temperatures from 31 to 35 degrees Celsius are expected with humidex values near 40. Overnight low temperatures are forecast to fall to only 21 to 24 degrees, providing little relief from the heat.<\/p>\n

A cold front is expected to bring showers and thunderstorms Tuesday evening bringing an end to the heat and humidity.<\/p>\n

Young children, pregnant women, older adults, and people with chronic illnesses are at the greatest risk from the heat. Environment Canada is advising residents in the affected region to drink plenty of water and stay in a cool place.<\/p>\n

Two new positive COVID-19 case reported as of Friday by Chatham-Kent Public Health<\/a>. There will be an update for the weekend today between 10am-11am.<\/p>\n

One case was resolved. Total active case count locally is at one.<\/p>\n

There were\u00a0 213 positive cases reported across Ontario on Sunday.\u00a0\u00a0More than 15.5 million vaccine doses have now been administered in the province.<\/p>\n

Ontario has smashed its vaccination targets enough so that the province is technically ready \u2014 according to its own indicators \u2014 to hop from Step 1 to Step 3 of reopening. However, provincial officials say they want to wait a full 21 days before rolling restrictions back further. Most of Ontario moved into Step 2 on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

82-year-old Wally Funk will finally have the chance to go to space because of Jeff Bezos. He\u00a0just announced she’ll be joining him on a Blue Origin rocket later this month. And she’ll also become the OLDEST person to go to space.<\/p>\n

In 1961, Wally Funk was at the top of her class as part of the \u201cMercury 13\u201d Woman in Space Program with NASA. Despite completing their training, the program was cancelled, and none of the thirteen flew<\/p>\n

The launch date is July 20th. Jeff’s brother is going too, along with someone who paid $28 million for a seat. Jeff posted a video with Wally on Instagram, and she’s thrilled about it. He said “no one has waited longer” than she has.<\/p>\n
