Environment Canada has extended a heat warning for Chatham-Kent,\u00a0Rondeau Park, Windsor, Leamington and Essex County with maximum daytime temperatures from 31 to 35 degrees Celsius are expected with humidex values near 40. Overnight low temperatures are forecast to fall to only 21 to 24 degrees, providing little relief from the heat.<\/p>\n

A cold front is expected to bring showers and thunderstorms Tuesday evening bringing an end to the heat and humidity.<\/p>\n

Young children, pregnant women, older adults, and people with chronic illnesses are at the greatest risk from the heat. Environment Canada is advising residents in the affected region to drink plenty of water and stay in a cool place.<\/p>\n

One new positive COVID-19 case reported Monday by Chatham-Kent Public Health<\/a>.<\/p>\n

One case was resolved. Total active case count locally is at 7.<\/p>\n

There were 170 positive cases reported across Ontario on Monday.\u00a0 The government reports 12,949 tests were processed in the last 24 hours.<\/p>\n

\"\"As of Monday morning, 103,404 vaccines have been given in Chatham-Kent. There are 67,184 residents 12 and older with at least one dose and 38,410 with two doses.<\/p>\n

A pop-up clinic will be held Tuesday, July 13, at Blenheim Memorial Arena from 2 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Appointments are required.<\/p>\n

The indoor clinic is open to everyone 18 and older. The Moderna vaccine will be administered.<\/p>\n

Hope Haven in Chatham is offering residents a place to cool off in response to the extreme heat alert issued for the region.<\/p>\n

Those in need of a cool place can visit the centre at 183 Wellington St W., in downtown Chatham from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. throughout the duration of the heat alert.<\/p>\n

In addition, two local organizations are providing free transportation to the centre. The public can call ROCK Missions at 519-354-0430, extension 205, or NeighbourLink at 519-352-5647 for a free ride.<\/p>\n

David Rush has broken nearly 200 Guinness World Records. And now, with the help of his wife, Jennifer Rush, he’s achieved another impressive feat.<\/p>\n

Over the weekend, Rush wrapped his wife \u2014 from shoulders to toes \u2014 in cling film in one minute and 2.44 seconds.<\/p>\n

It’s a record-breaking time that knocks nearly 30 seconds off the current record holders. The time still needs to be certified by Guinness.\u00a0Rush has broken records for throwing the farthest tortilla, running the furthest distance while juggling, and slicing the most grapes on a balance board in one minute.<\/p>\n
