That&#8217;s two straight days of less than 500 new cases.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-406 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/storage.googleapis.com\/bri-web-app-wordpress\/2018\/09\/fd341b29-cksy_5_things_2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"59\" height=\"74\" \/>There&#8217;s a vaccination clinic at The Salvation Army Church on Orangewood Blvd. today from 10-4.<\/p>\n<p>Anyone 12 and older is welcome at the clinics.<\/p>\n<p>Walk-ins are welcome at all clinics, but if you&#8217;re looking to schedule an appointment for a confirmed time book online at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.getyourshotck.ca\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">GetYourShotCK.ca<\/a> or by calling 519-351-1010.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-54692 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/storage.googleapis.com\/bri-web-app-wordpress\/2018\/09\/3acb2f67-cksy_5_things_3.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"58\" height=\"90\" \/>Today marks the first <a href=\"https:\/\/www.canada.ca\/en\/canadian-heritage\/campaigns\/national-day-truth-reconciliation.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">National Day for Truth and Reconciliation<\/a> \u2014 an annual commemoration honouring the children who died while attending residential schools and the survivors, families and communities still affected by the legacy of the residential school system.<\/p>\n<p>The creation of this new federal statutory holiday was approved by Parliament days after the discovery of roughly 200 potential burial sites, likely of children, on the site of a former residential school in Kamloops, B.C. The private member&#8217;s bill was originally brought forward in 2017.<\/p>\n<p>The day has been marked in past years as Orange Shirt Day, originally started in 2013.<\/p>\n<p>Memorials, educational and cultural events will be held in communities across Canada on the day, and the Department of Canadian Heritage is encouraging Canadians to read and reflect on the legacy of residential schools.<\/p>\n<p>Ontario Education Minister Stephen Lecce announced yesterday that the Ontario school curriculum will now include mandatory Indigenous-focused learning in the Social Studies, Grades 1-3 curriculum. This will include lessons on the residential school system.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-54688 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/storage.googleapis.com\/bri-web-app-wordpress\/2018\/09\/63a1a3cf-cksy_5_things_4.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"65\" height=\"90\" \/><a href=\"https:\/\/www.timhortons.ca\/?lang=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tim Horton&#8217;s<\/a> is launching a <a href=\"http:\/\/news.timhortons.ca\/orange-donut\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">fundraising donut<\/a> across Canada to support residential school survivors.<\/p>\n<p>Restaurant owners located a short distance from the site of the former Kamloops residential school, collaborated with other Indigenous Tim Hortons restaurant owners for the launch of this campaign.<\/p>\n<p>Beginning today until October 6, 100% of the proceeds from the sales of this special donut will go towards the Orange Shirt Society and the Indian Residential School Survivors Society.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-54689 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/storage.googleapis.com\/bri-web-app-wordpress\/2018\/09\/3a9171bb-cksy_5_things_5.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"56\" height=\"89\" \/><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wendys.com\/en-ca\/home\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Wendy\u2019s<\/a> is giving away 20 custom Android phones.<\/p>\n<p>Canadian residents have to download the official Wendy\u2019s app, screenshot a favourite order, and share it on Twitter with the hashtags #WendysPhone and #Contest to qualify.<\/p>\n<p>The phone itself comes with its own Assistant, which you can call up by saying \u201cHey Wendy.\u201d Wendy&#8217;s says the phone\u2019s cameras have \u201cmore megapixels than the Baconator has bacon.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Wendy\u2019s phone features an integrated GPS navigation system, to Wendy\u2019s, as well as ample battery life to watch Wendy\u2019s ads, order Wendy\u2019s and watch videos while eating Wendy\u2019s.<\/p>\n<p>Wendy\u2019s posted a brief frequently asked questions section about its phone, and the company makes sure to remind us that, yes, this is a phone.
