\"\"The Municipality of Chatham-Kent<\/a> is reminding dog owners that you have until March 31st to get your 2022 dog tags.<\/p>\n

A dog tag is required for dogs over the age of 4 months.<\/p>\n

Tags must be purchased by March 31st and you can buy your dog tag online<\/a>, at the animal shelter in Chatham, or at any municipal office.<\/p>\n

If you choose not to purchase a tag this year, you are at risk of a $240 fine.<\/p>\n

\"\"After some record breaking gas prices last week, the price at the pump drops again today.<\/p>\n

Prices in the province on average will drop 5 cents per litre today, and its expected that it’ll drop another 6 cents a litre on Thursday.<\/p>\n

So if you can hold off filling up until tomorrow, you’ll get it for about 163.9 cents\/litre.<\/p>\n

\"\"As of Sunday, license plate stickers and license plate renewal fees are gone in Ontario.<\/p>\n

Passenger vehicles, light-duty trucks, motorcycles and mopeds won’t get issued a license plate sticker from ServiceOntario<\/a> anymore. Vehicles registered to a business or a company are not eligible.<\/p>\n

Previously, under the sticker system, drivers in northern Ontario paid $60 per year, while those in southern Ontario paid $120 per year. Drivers are eligible for a refund on any renewal fees they paid for the period of March 1, 2020, or later.<\/p>\n

Ontarians will get their refunds in the form of a cheque in the mail from the government.<\/p>\n

If your address is up to date and you paid license plate sticker renewal fees for the period between March 1, 2020, and March 12, 2022 and you don’t have any outstanding fees, tolls or fines, Ministry of Transportation\u2019s cheques will start going out at the end of the month.<\/p>\n

Make sure the address on your driver’s license is up to date, since that’s where they’ll be sending your cheque. If it’s not, the government warns that you should change your address on the ServiceOntario website<\/a> right away.<\/p>\n

\"\"The U.S. Senate<\/a> voted Tuesday unanimously to make Daylight Saving Time permanent.<\/p>\n

This could pave the way for Canadian provinces to follow suit.<\/p>\n

The Sunshine Protected Act was introduced last year and touts the potential benefits to the economy that an extra hour of daylight could bring. The measure still needs the approval of the U.S. House of Representatives and President Joe Biden before it becomes law.<\/p>\n

The Ontario legislature passed a bill in November 2020 to put an end to time changes and keep the province permanently on Daylight Saving Time. The bill received royal assent but has yet to be proclaimed into law because it was contingent on New York and Qu\u00e9bec making the same change; and that hasn’t happened.<\/p>\n

Daylight Saving Time arrived early Sunday morning and will be in place until November 6, 2022 \u2014 on which date clocks will \u201cfall back.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"March 16th is the 75th day of the year.
