There are 50 days remaining until the end of the year.<\/strong><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-54690 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/storage.googleapis.com\/bri-web-app-wordpress\/2018\/09\/ef794108-cksy_5_things_1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"46\" height=\"90\" \/><a href=\"https:\/\/ckanimalrescue.com\/\" rel=\"noopener\">CK Animal Rescue<\/a> is holding their Christmas Yard Sale Saturday at their office.<\/p>\n<p>Stop by 270 Inshes Ave, Chatham tomorrow from 9-2.<\/p>\n<p>All proceeds go to help the animals in their care.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-406 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/storage.googleapis.com\/bri-web-app-wordpress\/2018\/09\/fd341b29-cksy_5_things_2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"59\" height=\"74\" \/>Today is Remembrance Day, commemorating the end of WWI at 11am on the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s the 104th anniversary of the armistice signed between the Allies of World War I and Germany in France.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-1361 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/storage.googleapis.com\/bri-web-app-wordpress\/2018\/10\/5c5d19f0-poppy.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"53\" height=\"50\" \/>It\u2019s observed in Canada &amp; the UK, and in Belgium &amp; France as Armistice Day.<\/p>\n<p>The tradition is to observe 2 minutes silence at 11am.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-54692 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/storage.googleapis.com\/bri-web-app-wordpress\/2018\/09\/3acb2f67-cksy_5_things_3.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"58\" height=\"90\" \/>There are plenty of opportunities to observe Remembrance Day with parades and ceremonies across Chatham-Kent.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Chatham:<\/u><\/strong><br \/>\nThe Chatham Remembrance Day Parade, hosted by Royal Canadian Legion Branch #642 Chatham will take place on Friday starting at 10:45 a.m.<\/p>\n<p>The parade will start at the legion at 39 William Street North and proceed south on William Street and west on King Street West to the Cenotaph on Sixth Street for service. After the service, proceed back to the legion along the same route.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Blenheim:<\/u><\/strong><br \/>\nBlenheim&#8217;s Remembrance Day parade will be hosted by Royal Canadian Legion Branch #185 Blenheim.<\/p>\n<p>The parade kicks off at 10:45 a.m. and begins at the legion at 34 Catherine Street, proceeding north on George Street to St. Mary&#8217;s Hall Street) for Remembrance Day service before returning to Legion Branch 185 on the same route.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Bothwell:<\/u><\/strong><br \/>\nBothwell&#8217;s parade will be hosted by Royal Canadian Legion Branch #252 Bothwell and start at 10 a.m. at the legion location on George Street East. The parade will proceed west on George Street, north on Main Street to the Cenotaph for Remembrance Day service before returning to Legion Branch 252 on the same route.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Dresden:<\/u><\/strong><br \/>\nThe Dresden Remembrance Day Parade, hosted by Royal Canadian Legion Branch #113 Dresden, will start at 10 a.m. at the CK Fire Station at 185 Lindsley Street and proceed west on Lindsley Street, then south on St George Street South to the Cenotaph on Queen Street for service.<\/p>\n<p>The parade will reform and proceed west on Queen Street West, north on Centre Street, and east on Lindsley Street before concluding at the fire station.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Erieau:<\/u><\/strong><br \/>\nThis year&#8217;s Remembrance Day Parade in Erieau is hosted by Royal Canadian Legion Branch #185 Blenheim.<\/p>\n<p>Erieau&#8217;s parade will start at Molly and OJ&#8217;s Restaurant on Mariners Road and head east on Mariners Road north on Nichols Avenue, and west on Ross Lane to the Veterans Memorial Garden.<\/p>\n<p>After After the wreath-laying ceremony, the parade will proceed west on Ross Lane, south on the service road, then proceed east on Mariners Road and conclude at Molly and OJ\u2019s Restaurant.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Tilbury:<\/u><\/strong><br \/>\nThe Remembrance Day Parade in Tilbury starts at 10:30 a.m. on Friday and is hosted by Royal Canadian Legion Branch #206 Tilbury.<\/p>\n<p>The parade will begin at the legion at 4 Stewart Avenue and continue west on Stewart Avenue, north on Queen Street to the Cenotaph at Canal Street East for service.<\/p>\n<p>The route will then proceed south on Queen Street, east on Stewart Avenue and end up back at the legion on Stewart Avenue.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Wallaceburg:<\/u><\/strong><br \/>\nHosted by Royal Canadian Legion Branch #18 Wallaceburg, the Remembrance Day Parade in Wallaceburg starts at 10 a.m. at Wallaceburg District Secondary School on Lorne Avenue. The route will proceed south on Lorne Avenue, east on Elgin Street, and south on Lisgar Street to the Cenotaph at the corner of Dufferin Avenue and Lisgar Street for Remembrance Day<br \/>\nService.<\/p>\n<p>Following the service, the route will proceed north on Lisgar Street, west on Elgin Street, north on Lorne Avenue and concluding at Wallaceburg District Secondary School.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Wheatley:<\/u><\/strong><br \/>\nThis year&#8217;s Remembrance Day Parade in Wheatley is hosted by Royal Canadian Legion Branch #324 Wheatley.<\/p>\n<p>Wheatley&#8217;s parade will start at Wheatley United Church on Talbot Road West and proceed east on Talbot Road West to the Cenotaph at 35 Talbot Road West for service. The parade will reform and proceed west on Queen Road West concluding at Wheatley United Church.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Merlin:<\/u><\/strong><br \/>\nThe Merlin Remembrance Day Parade, hosted by RRoyal Canadian Legion Branch #465 Merlin, will start at 10 a.m. at the legion on Stanley Street and head west on Stanley Street and north on Erie Street South to the Cenotaph at Kinsman Park for a wreath service.<\/p>\n<p>The parade then proceeds south on Erie Street North, east on Aberdeen Street to the Merlin Community Hall for a Remembrance Day Service. The parade then continues west on Aberdeen Street, south on Erie Street South, east on Stanley Street and concludes at the legion.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-54688 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/storage.googleapis.com\/bri-web-app-wordpress\/2018\/09\/63a1a3cf-cksy_5_things_4.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"65\" height=\"90\" \/>Municipal and most government offices will be closed today in observance of Remembrance Day.<\/p>\n<p>Ride CK <em>will<\/em> be operating today. Garbage and recycling <em>will not<\/em> be affected.<\/p>\n<p>There will be no mail delivery and the post office will be closed. Most banks will be closed.<\/p>\n<p>At the hospital, they\u2019re on their standard holiday hours with most walk in services and departments closed.
