\"\"\"\"Facebook<\/a> has announced they’re adding a paid verification option, just like Twitter’s<\/a>. But instead of a blue checkmark, you get a blue badge.<\/p>\n

It’s called Meta Verified. They’re testing it in Australia and New Zealand this week, and plan to roll it out to more countries soon.<\/p>\n

The web version costs $12 a month, or it’s $15 if you want it through your phone app. That’s compared to $8 and $11 for Twitter Blue, but Meta\u2019s version covers you on Facebook as well as Instagram<\/a>.<\/p>\n

You have to verify your identity with a government I.D. So just like with Twitter, it’s supposed to add more protection and keep people from impersonating you.<\/p>\n

You also get direct access to Facebook’s customer support, which some people say is the only part worth paying for. But Facebook thinks the verification stuff will be useful, especially for influencers and businesses.<\/p>\n

Plenty of schools and businesses in the area will be sporting pink shirts today to stand up to bullying and to raise awareness of the issues.<\/p>\n

\"\"The Pink Shirt Day anti-bullying movement started in 2007 after a Grade 9 student from a small town in Nova Scotia was bullied for wearing a pink T-shirt to school.<\/p>\n

As a show of support and acceptance, two older students purchased 50 pink tank tops and handed them out to male classmates the next day, and Pink Shirt Day was born.<\/p>\n
