Barbie<\/a> grabs the top spot, taking in $155 million, and Oppenheimer<\/a> opened in second place with $80.5 million.<\/p>\n

Barbie surpassed The Super Mario Bros. Movie as the biggest opening of the year. It cost $145 million to produce. The film earned $182 million overseas for a grand total of $337 million. It also had the biggest opening ever for a female-directed motion picture, biggest opening ever for a movie based on a toy and the biggest opening weekend for a movie that isn’t a sequel, a remake, or a superhero movie.<\/p>\n

Along with Christopher Nolan’s epic Oppenheimer, they inspired a double feature craze, driving the best box office weekend in years.<\/p>\n

Last weekends #1: Mission: Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part I, had strong reviews and a great opening weekend fell 64% in weekend two.<\/p>\n
