Keep an eye out for students and buses on the roads today.<\/p>\n<p>Mostly cloudy skies for day one, the humidity will make it feel like 30.<\/p>\n<p>With kids going back to school, some safety tips for students, drivers and bus drivers:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Slow down.\u00a0Speed limits in school zones are reduced for a reason.<\/li>\n<li>Come to a complete stop.\u00a0Research shows that more than one-third of drivers roll through stop signs in school zones or neighborhoods. Always come to a complete stop, checking carefully for children on sidewalks and in crosswalks before proceeding.<\/li>\n<li>Eliminate distractions.\u00a0Research shows that taking your eyes off the road for just two seconds doubles your chances of crashing.<\/li>\n<li>Share the road with bicyclists.\u00a0Children on bicycles are often inexperienced, unsteady and unpredictable. Slow down and allow at least three feet of passing distance between your vehicle and a bicyclist.<\/li>\n<li>Talk to your teen.\u00a0Car crashes are one of the leading causes of death for teens, and nearly one in four fatal crashes involving teen drivers occurs during the after-school hours of 3p.m. to 7p.m.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For Pedestrians:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Pay attention at all times.\u00a0Avoid texting or wearing headphones, so you can detect nearby traffic.<\/li>\n<li>Use sidewalks\u00a0where available. If not, walk against the direction of traffic so you can see oncoming vehicles.<\/li>\n<li>Make yourself easier to be seen\u00a0by wearing reflective, bright coloured clothing.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For Bicyclists:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Wear a helmet and neon or bright colored clothes.<\/li>\n<li>Ride in the same direction as traffic\u00a0and stay as far to the right as possible. Use bike lanes when you can.<\/li>\n<li>Do not wear headphones\u00a0so you can detect approaching traffic.<\/li>\n<li>Cross the street at intersections.\u00a0Do not pull into the roadway from between parked cars.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For Students at the Bus Stop:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Arrive at least 5 minutes before\u00a0the bus is scheduled to arrive.<\/li>\n<li>Stay five steps away from the curb.<\/li>\n<li>Be alert and remove headphones\u00a0so you can hear oncoming traffic.<\/li>\n<li>Wait until the bus comes to a complete stop\u00a0and the bus driver signals for you to board.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-406 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/storage.googleapis.com\/bri-web-app-wordpress\/2018\/09\/fd341b29-cksy_5_things_2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"59\" height=\"74\" \/><a href=\"https:\/\/weather.gc.ca\/\">Environment Canada<\/a> issued a heat warning over the weekend for Chatham-Kent and Windsor-Essex, and that will continue for today and tomorrow;<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-2716 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/storage.googleapis.com\/bri-web-app-wordpress\/2019\/01\/3a4b6e6d-environment-canada.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"157\" height=\"30\" srcset=\"https:\/\/storage.googleapis.com\/bri-web-app-wordpress\/2019\/01\/3a4b6e6d-environment-canada.png 1162w, https:\/\/storage.googleapis.com\/bri-web-app-wordpress\/2019\/01\/3a4b6e6d-environment-canada-768x147.png 768w, https:\/\/storage.googleapis.com\/bri-web-app-wordpress\/2019\/01\/3a4b6e6d-environment-canada-695x133.png 695w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 157px) 100vw, 157px\" \/>\u00a0The two hottest days of the heat warning.<\/p>\n<p>Temperatures projected to reach 32C (39C with the humidex) today and tomorrow. A cold front moving in later this week will bring the temperatures down.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-54692 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/storage.googleapis.com\/bri-web-app-wordpress\/2018\/09\/3acb2f67-cksy_5_things_3.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"58\" height=\"90\" \/>The intersection of Dufferin Avenue and McNaughton Avenue in Wallaceburg is scheduled to be shut down at at 7a.m. today, until Friday, September 15 at 6p.m.<\/p>\n<p>This is part of the Dufferin Avenue Reconstruction Project.
