It happens at 7:15 A.M. Eastern every July 8th. But only because of something called \u201castronomical twilight.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>At that exact moment, 83% of populated areas are in full daylight, including Africa, Europe, and most of Asia. Meanwhile, 7% are in twilight, where the sun is rising or setting. And 6% are in \u201cnautical twilight,\u201d where it\u2019s basically dark.<\/p>\n<p>The remaining 3% are in \u201castronomical twilight,\u201d where the sun is well below the horizon. So to the human eye, it\u2019s dark out. But there\u2019s still a tiny bit of indirect light that only matters if you\u2019re looking at stuff through a telescope.<\/p>\n<p>Only 93% of us can actually see any light at that moment. But technically, just 1% are looking at a totally dark sky, mostly in Australia, New Zealand, and New Guinea.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-54689 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/storage.googleapis.com\/bri-web-app-wordpress\/2018\/09\/3a9171bb-cksy_5_things_5.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"56\" height=\"89\" \/><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.blogto.com\/sports_play\/2024\/07\/canadas-wonderland-six-flags\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Canada&#8217;s Wonderland is now part of the Six Flags empire.<\/a><\/p>\n<div class=\"subscriber-preview\">\n<p>Cedar Fair, the company that owns the\u00a0Vaughan theme park has officially merged with\u00a0fellow theme park brand Six Flags and will operate under the\u00a0new\u00a0Six Flags Entertainment Corporation.<\/p>\n<p>Canada&#8217;s Wonderland is assuring people that there are no\u00a0major changes planned at the park level and that\u00a02024 season pass and rewards holders will not be affected by the new partnership.<\/p>\n<p>The company also previously said that the merger would help them cut costs and achieve a more robust operating model to enhance park offerings and performance.<\/p>\n<p>The $8 billion merger between Cedar Fair and Six Flags created what is now the largest theme park operator in North America.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"July 8th is the 190th day of the year.
