\"\"\"\"Canadian Blood Services<\/a> hosting stem cell swabbing event for Ethan Hunter tomorrow at the Real Canadian Superstore.<\/p>\n

Ethan is battling a rare second fight with lymphoblastic lymphoma T-cell leukemia. He is currently receiving treatment in London. After going into remission in December 2023, the cancer has returned.<\/p>\n

On Saturday from 8 a.m. – 2 a.m., Canadian Blood Services is asking eligible people to join the registry to give hope to Ethan and other patients waiting for a stem cell match.<\/p>\n

If you are aged 17-35 and in good general health, you can be a match. You don\u2019t have to be at a swabbing event to register. Visit blood.ca\/Ethan<\/a>, and a swabbing kit will be sent to your home.<\/p>\n

\"\"Is your son or daughter a first time bus rider this school year? There’s an orientation day tomorrow at Ursuline College “The Pines” on Grand Ave.<\/p>\n

\"\"The Chatham-Kent Lambton Administrative School Services (CLASS)<\/a> will be hosting the event from 8:30-11:30 a.m. The program is open to students in the Lambton Kent District and St. Clair Catholic District school boards to provide the youngsters with an understanding of the importance of school bus safety.<\/p>\n

Safety trainers will be there to talk to the children and parents about basic school bus safety rules, how to cross the street safely and how to evacuate a bus in case of an emergency.<\/p>\n

The sessions run for about half-an-hour each.<\/p>\n

The CNE is Canada’s largest annual fair and the fifth largest in North America, bringing in 1.5 million visitors each year. The first Canadian National Exhibition took place in 1879 to promote agriculture and technology in Canada.<\/p>\n

The CNE runs until September 2nd. General admission tickets are $25, with discounts available for children, seniors and families.<\/p>\n

\"\"\"\"The Beer Mile World Classic<\/a> is Saturday in Windsor.<\/p>\n

The beer mile is four laps of a track, or one mile combined, drinking a beer before you start each lap, for a total of four beers. The basic rules are: the beers must in a 341 millilitre bottle and at least 5% alcohol. And you don\u2019t want to \u201cchunder” aka puking. \u201cChundering\u201d will cost runners a one-lap penalty, all but eliminating a runner from contention.<\/p>\n

The beer mile began back in the 80s, when a group of varsity athletes got together at season\u2019s end for the underground race. Over time, various teams would post times online and compare amongst themselves to see which city boasted the best beer milers.<\/p>\n

The current world record holder is Windsor\u2019s Corey Bellemore. He has been competing in the Beer Mile since 2016 and is the undisputed world record holder, breaking his own records multiple times, including his best in 2021: 4 minutes and 28 seconds.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s an open race that will run beforehand, where participants will drink alcohol-free beer. You can sign up for that here<\/a><\/p>\n

The event will be at the University of Windsor\u2019s Alumni Stadium. Tickets are available online.<\/a><\/p>\n
