\"\"\"\"The Kidney Walk<\/a> is this weekend at Kingston Park.<\/p>\n

This will be the first walk in CK since before COVID-19. People can register as an individual or a team, more information is available here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The walk is technically a 5k, but you’re welcome to do what you can. The money raised by the walk will go to support kidney dialysis patients, Camp Dorset which allows for vacation opportunities for dialysis patients and their families, and for kidney disease research.<\/p>\n

Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. with the walk starting at 10 a.m.<\/p>\n

\"\"The Kiwanis Club of Chatham’s Bottles for Books campaign<\/a> is underway right now.<\/p>\n

\"\"Until Saturday, September 7th, the club is collecting empty alcohol bottles and cans.<\/p>\n

The campaign raises funds to be used towards the distribution of books through The Dolly Parton Imagination Library. The Dolly Parton Imagination Library is an initiative that promotes the love of reading and literacy in kids ages zero to five by sending registered kids a book each month.<\/p>\n

During the donation drive, CK residents can fill out this form<\/a> to arrange for a bottle pick-up or a drop-off location.<\/p>\n

\"\"On Tuesday, Phoenix hit its 100th straight day with at least 100-degree temperatures. The previous record of 76 days in a row was set back in 1993, and has long been shattered.<\/p>\n

The temperature hit 102 F (38.9 C) in Phoenix on May 27 and has made it to triple digits every day since. There have been 37 nights this summer that didn\u2019t cool off below 90 F ( 32.2 C), another record.<\/p>\n
