Santa will be at the 75th annual Ridgetown Kiwanis parade at 1 on Saturday. One of the few daytime parades around, it starts near the high school and proceeds along Main Street through downtown.<\/p>\n

Tomorrow night is the Dresden Rotary Santa Claus Parade at 6 p.m. Parade begins at the Dresden Area Central School.<\/p>\n

The final parade locally is next Friday in Thamesville.<\/p>\n

\"\"\"\"The Chatham Goodfellows<\/a> Street Sales are this weekend.<\/p>\n

Volunteers are needed to sell papers outside of local businesses Friday & Saturday.<\/p>\n

\"\"\"\"The Intercounty Baseball League<\/a> and the Chatham-Kent Barnstormers<\/a> have released their 2025 regular season schedule.<\/p>\n

The Barnstormers will start their second season at home on Saturday, May 17th at Fergie Jenkins Field. Teams will play 42 games, with 21 at home. The busiest month for the Barnstormers will be June, when they play 13 games, 8 at home.<\/p>\n

This will be the 106th season for the Intercounty Baseball League (IBL).<\/p>\n

\"\"Speaking of baseball, today is Fergie Jenkins’ 82nd birthday.<\/p>\n

Born and raised in Chatham before starting his Major League Baseball career. He played from 1965 to 1983 for the Philadelphia Phillies, Chicago Cubs, Texas Rangers and Boston Red Sox.<\/p>\n

A Cy Young winner for best pitcher, he won 20 or more games 7 times. He had over 3,000 strikeouts during his career and his 284 victories are the most by a black pitcher in major league history. In the late 60’s, Fergie played basketball in the offseason with the Harlem Globetrotters.<\/p>\n

Jenkins was the first Canadian to be inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1991; he remained the only one until Larry Walker’s induction in 2020.<\/p>\n
