100% of proceeds from the Special Olympics Donut supports sports programs for athletes with an intellectual disability in communities across Canada. To date, this exclusive donut has raised nearly $1M for Special Olympics Canada.<\/p>\n

The donut is a chocolate cake ring donut with white fondant, coloured sprinkles and whipped topping. The multi-coloured design was inspired by the themes of diversity and inclusion that are central to the Special Olympics mission. It’s $1.69.<\/p>\n

\"\"February is Black History Month.<\/p>\n

Every February, people across Canada participate in Black History Month events and festivities that honour the legacy of Black Canadians and their communities.<\/p>\n

It wasn’t until December of 1995 that the House of Commons officially recognized February as Black History Month in Canada, following a motion introduced by the Jean Augustine, the first Black Canadian woman elected to Parliament.<\/p>\n

Once considered a destination for freedom seekers, Chatham-Kent is home to some of the most successful Black settlements in Canadian History.<\/p>\n

The Buxton National Historic Site & Museum<\/a>,\u00a0Chatham-Kent Black Historical Society and Black Mecca Museum<\/a> and the Josiah Henson Museum of African-Canadian History<\/a> are all hosting events this month beginning with a flag-raising today at the Civic Centre on King Street, starting at noon.<\/p>\n

Legend has it that if the groundhog sees his shadow, Winter will last six more weeks. If he doesn’t see his shadow, an early Spring.<\/p>\n

Last year, Wiarton Willie, Ontario’s prognosticating rodent, predicted an early Spring.<\/p>\n

This is the 69th year Willie will be making a prediction. Well, someone that looks like Willie anyways. Willie died of a tooth abscess prior to the 2021 prediction. The Mayor used a fur hat two years ago, but it wasn’t confirmed until November that Willie had in fact passed.<\/p>\n

The Wiarton Willie<\/a> prediction will be made at 8:07am.<\/p>\n

Groundhog Day in Milltown, New Jersey has been canceled again because the town was unable to find a groundhog. Organizers are hopeful they can bring back the tradition next year.<\/p>\n
