Our first weekend of July is looking like it’ll be a nice one.<\/p>\n

According to Environment Canada, we’ll head into the weekend with nothing but sunshine on Friday, a high of 30C (Humidex of 36C)<\/p>\n

More sunshine on Saturday and slightly more humid, then on Sunday there’s a very slight chance of showers, otherwise it’ll be sunshine on and off with a high of 32C.<\/p>\n

Some big news for the Chatham-Kent Barnstormers.<\/p>\n

The team announced on Thursday afternoon that 2024 IBL MVP \u00a0Seth Strong is back on the team.<\/p>\n

In the Barnstormer’s inaugural season, strong helped guide the club to a fifth place finish by clubbing a league leading 16 home runs while batting. 344 and also had an OPS of 1.176.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

<\/div>\n
At mid-season, Strong was named as a South All-Star and an IBL First Team All-Star following the season. To cap off the accolades, the Barnstormers named Seth Strong the first winner of the Ed Pinnance Award, given to the team’s Most Outstanding Player.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The Barnstormers are back at home at Fergie Jenkins field on July 12.<\/p>\n

CKRec kicks off its SummerFest Beach Days this weekend.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

From 11 a.m.-3p.m., The CKRec team will be in Mitchell’s Bay on Saturday and Sunday and Erieau on Sunday.<\/div>\n

This summer, Mitchell’s Bay\u00a0Beach Days will be geared toward young children and families with sand toys, building blocks, \u00a0and water play while Erieau Beach Days will be geared towards youth and adults with a mix of chill and challenging activities.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

CkRec will also be bringing their Play Rangers to Blenheim on Saturday. You can find the Play Rangers truck at Rotary Park at the Children’s Festival from 9 a.m.- 12 p.m.<\/div>\n

Speaking of the Children’s Festival, that goes on Saturday in Blenheim at Talbot Trail Place from 9 a.m.-2 p.m.<\/a><\/p>\n

The family-friendly event is designed to bring excitement to children of all ages,\u00a0from arts and crafts to hands-on activities, there’s something for every child to enjoy.<\/p>\n

In addition to all the fun-filled activities, numerous community organizations, agencies, and businesses will be on-site along with several vendors and food options.<\/p>\n

Today is July 4th- a federal holiday in the U.S.<\/p>\n

It all goes back to 1776, when the Continental Congress officially adopted the Declaration of Independence \u2014 marking America’s break from British rule and the birth of a new nation. It wasn’t an instant party though \u2014 most of the actual signatures came later that summer. But July 4th became the date everyone celebrated.
