There are 142 days remaining until the end of the year.<\/strong><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-54690 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/storage.googleapis.com\/bri-web-app-wordpress\/2018\/09\/ef794108-cksy_5_things_1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"46\" height=\"90\" \/><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright  wp-image-2716\" src=\"https:\/\/storage.googleapis.com\/bri-web-app-wordpress\/2019\/01\/3a4b6e6d-environment-canada.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"314\" height=\"60\" srcset=\"https:\/\/storage.googleapis.com\/bri-web-app-wordpress\/2019\/01\/3a4b6e6d-environment-canada.png 1162w, https:\/\/storage.googleapis.com\/bri-web-app-wordpress\/2019\/01\/3a4b6e6d-environment-canada-768x147.png 768w, https:\/\/storage.googleapis.com\/bri-web-app-wordpress\/2019\/01\/3a4b6e6d-environment-canada-695x133.png 695w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 314px) 100vw, 314px\" \/>Chatham-Kent is still under a Heat Warning issued by <a href=\"https:\/\/weather.gc.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Environment Canada<\/a> on Friday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>Environment Canada is saying, &#8220;a slow moving cold front will be moving across the area beginning later [Monday] and that will bring an end to the heat event for areas in central Ontario and the northern parts of southwestern Ontario.&#8221; They are tracking a system that could bring back the hot temperatures for the weekend.<\/p>\n<p>Residents are reminded when it is hot and humid outside to drink plenty of water, stay in cool, air conditioned places and to wear loose, light-fitted clothing.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-406 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/storage.googleapis.com\/bri-web-app-wordpress\/2018\/09\/fd341b29-cksy_5_things_2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"59\" height=\"74\" \/>The King Street West Reconstruction project is set to start this morning.<\/p>\n<p>The project includes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Reconstruction of King Street West from Lacroix Street to Second Street, including upgrades to the underground infrastructure.<\/li>\n<li>Upgrades to surface features including new asphalt pavement, concrete curbs, sidewalks, and streetlights.<\/li>\n<li>Replacing the traffic signals at the King Street West and Lacroix Street intersection.<\/li>\n<li>A new all-way stop at the intersection of King Street West and Second Street.<\/li>\n<li>Watermain replacement along First Street from King Street West to Wellington Street.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The first phase of the project will focus on King Street West from Lacroix Street to First Street and First Street from King Street West to Wellington Street.<\/p>\n<p>A full closure of the King Street West and Lacroix Street intersection will be necessary for a few weeks starting next week and reopened in early September. Detour routes are in place.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-54692 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/storage.googleapis.com\/bri-web-app-wordpress\/2018\/09\/3acb2f67-cksy_5_things_3.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"58\" height=\"90\" \/>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/ckfilm\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Chatham-Kent Film Group<\/a> will screen <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt28007064\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Superboys of Malegaon<\/a> tonight at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.Chathamcapitoltheatre.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Capitol Theatre<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Showings at 4 and 7p.m. Admission is $10 and tickets can be purchased at the door.<\/p>\n<p>The C-K Film Group screens international and independent films the first Monday of the month.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-54688 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/storage.googleapis.com\/bri-web-app-wordpress\/2018\/09\/63a1a3cf-cksy_5_things_4.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"65\" height=\"90\" \/><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-32356 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/storage.briwebapp.net\/2023\/11\/8e1b11ad-ck-barnstormers.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"90\" height=\"90\" srcset=\"https:\/\/storage.briwebapp.net\/2023\/11\/8e1b11ad-ck-barnstormers.jpg 500w, https:\/\/storage.briwebapp.net\/2023\/11\/8e1b11ad-ck-barnstormers-150x150.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 90px) 100vw, 90px\" \/>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ckbarnstormers.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Chatham-Kent Barnstormers<\/a> regular season home schedule is done.<\/p>\n<p>The Barnstormers destroyed the Brantford Red Sox on Saturday 19-4, and on Sunday the Toronto Maple Leafs won 8-1.<\/p>\n<p>They finished their second IBL season with a 13-8 record at Fergie Jenkins Field, the best home record in the league. They&#8217;re in 4th place.<\/p>\n<p>The Barnstormers are on the road to London on Friday and Welland on Saturday before the playoffs begin later this month.
