The first week of August will bring some good weather, according to Environment Canada.<\/p>\n

We’ll see sunshine with a high of 28C on Monday, feeling like 34C with the humidity factored in.<\/p>\n

That’s pretty much the story for the whole week- sunshine with highs in the upper 20s to low 30s.<\/p>\n

Although the forecast looks good, the air quality is not.<\/p>\n

A special air quality statement remains in effect for communities across southern Ontario.<\/p>\n

Wildfire smoke is drifting into Windsor, Chatham-Kent, and Lambton County.<\/p>\n

The smoke is expected to linger around throughout Tuesday and possibly into Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Environment Canada is encouraging people in the area to limit their time outside.<\/p>\n

Those who stay outside for long periods of time may experience eye, nose, and throat irritation, headaches, or a mild cough. More serious symptoms include wheezing, chest pains, and severe cough.<\/p>\n

\"\"Garbage and recycling pickup across Chatham-Kent will be pushed back one day this week because of the Civic holiday.<\/p>\n

Friday pickups will be Saturday.<\/p>\n

It was a solid weekend for the Chatham-Kent Barnstormers.<\/p>\n

The team fell 10-4 on the road against Brantford on Friday, before bouncing back for their home games with a 7-4 win against the Kitchener Panthers on Saturday and a 14-4 win against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Sunday.<\/p>\n

The Barnstormers only have one more weekend of home games for the regular season, taking on the Brantford Red Sox Saturday at 7:05 pm and the Toronto Maple Leafs on Sunday at 2:05 pm.<\/p>\n

Team Owner and President Dom Dinelle joins CKMORNINGS at 8:40 am Tuesday to chat about the team and give away a pair of tickets.<\/p>\n

NFL preseason kicks off later this week with one change that’s got some fans talking.<\/p>\n

During last week’s Hall of Fame Game against the Lions and the Chargers, the NFL used virtual measurement instead of chains for the first time.<\/p>\n

The days of NFL officials stretching the chains<\/a> to measure for a first down as the crowd waits in anticipation are over as the league will now use several\u00a08K cameras to track the position of the ball.<\/p>\n

After decades of using the chain method, The NFL announced in April<\/a> that it was changing to the new technology for the 2025 season because it\u2019s faster than having officials walk the chains onto the field.\u00a0It took an average of 75 seconds to measure a play with chains compared to an average of just 30 seconds with the virtual measurement system during testing.<\/p>\n

The technology is expected to also be more reliable than chains operated by officials.<\/p>\n
