Crews will be restoring the concrete pavement surface and repairing existing joints, which will require temporary closures of the Bloomfield Road, westbound on and off-ramps.<\/p>\n

Access the to the 401 westbound is available from Highway 40 (Communication Road). Work is anticipated to be complete later this fall.<\/p>\n

Each team of two faced the same task\u2014carve out a grave measuring two meters long (about 6.5 feet), 80 centimeters wide (around 2.6 feet), and 1.6 meters deep (just over 5 feet), then replace about 2.5 tons of dirt. Judges scored them on speed, accuracy, and presentation using a 10-point scale. Clean edges and a tidy burial mound carried almost as much weight as finishing quickly. The fastest time ever recorded for the contest was an eye-popping 34 minutes.<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s champions were from Hungary and defended their title with a time of 1 hour, 33 minutes, and 20 seconds. Russia\u2019s team finished last, and blamed scorching weather for their finish.<\/p>\n
