It’s the 107th anniversary of the armistice signed between the Allies of World War I and Germany in France.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s observed in Canada & the UK, and in Belgium & France as Armistice Day.<\/p>\n

The tradition is to observe 2 minutes silence at 11 a.m.<\/p>\n

\"\"Municipal offices will be closed today in observance of Remembrance Day.<\/p>\n

Municipal buses will be running as normal, as will garbage and recycling collections.<\/p>\n

Schools, grocery stores, and retail stores will be open. The LCBO will open for regular hours and The Beer Store will open at noon.<\/p>\n

Banks and Federal offices will be closed. There will be no mail delivery on today.<\/p>\n

At the hospital, they\u2019re on their standard holiday hours with most walk in services and departments closed. Emergency departments in Chatham and Wallaceburg are always open, 24\/7.<\/p>\n

\"\"Today is the last Household Hazardous Waste Day<\/a> for 2025.<\/p>\n

Hosted by the Municipality of Chatham-Kent<\/a> and Waste Connections of Canada Ridge Landfill<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The drop off is at Veolia Environmental, at 141 Prosperity Way<\/a> from 8 a.m. – 1 p.m.<\/p>\n

Residents can safely dispose of household hazardous material at no charge. A list of acceptable material can found here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Environment Canada<\/a> says more flurries in the forecast today, with a high of just 2C – the windchill will make it feel like -8 this morning. Wednesday it warms up to 8 with a chance of showers and double digits by the weekend – Sunday is a high of 14.<\/p>\n

In Florida forecasters say the windchill will drop below freezing over night this week. The chilly temps may cause iguanas to fall from trees as their bodies go into a temporary state of immobility. Floridians are being warned to watch for falling iguanas. They usually wake up with the sun\u2019s warmth.<\/p>\n
