The 2026 Polar Plunge<\/a> raised $50,016 for Special Olympics Ontario<\/a> on Saturday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This was the 9th annual plunge, bringing the total raised from the local polar plunge to more than $422,500 since it started. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

There were over 100 plungers on Saturday at Sons of Kent, the first jump 9 years ago had only with 20 participants.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The Heineken<\/a>-owned beer saw sales drop in 2025. The original campaign, helped triple sales will return with actor Jonathan Goldsmith (who is now 87) in a new ad debuting during the College Football Championship tonight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The original ad campaign debuted 20 years ago, in 2006. It ran for 10 years, before Jonathan retired in 2016. Dos Equis initially hired a younger successor, but that didn’t last long. They ended the series two years later, in 2018.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Today is Blue Monday which is supposed to be the most depressing day of the year. A British psychologist came up with it in 2005.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s called Blue Monday because it’s the perfect mix of all of the factors that make us depressed: Bad weather, high debt from the holidays, the realization of just how far away next Christmas is and how far away we are from our next vacation, failing on our New Year’s resolutions and low motivation at work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For what it’s worth, the guy who came up with Blue Monday says it was, “never my intention to make the day sound negative, but to inspire people to take action and make bold life decisions.”<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
