The Ontario Provincial Police<\/a> have issued a warning about dangerous ice conditions as temperatures rise above freezing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Police say ice is constantly changing and unpredictable. Clear blue ice is strongest, while white ice with air bubbles and black, decaying ice are much weaker. As a general rule, you need at least four inches to walk on ice, four to seven inches for a snowmobile, and eight to 12 inches to support a vehicle. If you fall through, try to pull yourself back to where you broke through and roll to safety \u2014 don\u2019t stand up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you see someone on unsafe ice, call 911 immediately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

More medals for Canada on Day 12 of the Winter Olympics<\/a> in Italy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Steven Dubois won gold in the men\u2019s 500 m short-track speed skating, Canada\u2019s first individual short-track title at these Games.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Canadian women\u2019s short-track 3000 m relay team \u2014 Dana\u00e9 Blais, Florence Brunelle, Kim Boutin and Courtney Sarault \u2014 took bronze. Sarault has her fourth medal in short track at these Winter Games – her sixth career Olympic medal, tying her as Canada\u2019s most decorated Winter Olympian.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Canadian Men’s Hockey team eeked out an OT win against Czechia 4-3, they advance to the semi-finals against Finland Friday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There’s a new bill in the U.S. House of Representatives<\/a> that proposes making \u201chalf-daylight saving time\u201d permanent instead of the current system of switching clocks twice a year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under this plan, clocks would stay 30 minutes ahead of standard time year-round \u2014 halving the change rather than eliminating it entirely. Supporters of the bill say it could reduce health issues and confusion tied to the spring\/fall clock changes, while still giving more evening daylight. Critics argue it could disrupt early morning light in winter and create new scheduling headaches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The bill would need approval from both Congress and the president before becoming law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
