The Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority<\/a> has now issued a Flood Warning along the Thames River.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rain the last few days has pushed the river to its limits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Residents, especially children, are urged to stay away from the Thames River as well as ditches and streams, as the combination of slippery banks and fast-moving cold water can be dangerous.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The warning is in effect until later today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The National Theatre School Dramafest<\/a> wraps up tonight at the Chatham Capitol Theatre<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n

Students from across Chatham-Kent this week have taken the stage with original and published one-act plays. Tonight Ridgetown District High School presents “Double Double”. Blenheim District High School will perform “Play, right?” beginning each night at 6 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Formerly known as the Sears Drama Festival, the event is part of the provincial program run by the National Theatre School of Canada. Tickets are available now at cktickets.com<\/a>, with student packages available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The deadline to get your 2026 municipal dog tag is March 31st.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Every dog owner in the Municipality of Chatham-Kent is required to purchase a dog licence tag for their dog(s) each year. There is a $10 late fee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dog licence tags can be purchased at any Municipal Office, by mail or over the phone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tags may also be purchased at Pet and Wildlife Rescue<\/a> in Chatham. More information on how to purchase tags can be found here.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

About two dozen couples took part in the annual U.K. Wife Carrying Race<\/a> in Dorking, Surrey, over the weekend where competitors sprint up and down a hillside while carrying their partners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dozens of pairs tackle obstacles including hills, hay bales, and water hazards, like spectators bearing squirt guns and buckets of water. This year\u2019s winners, Teemu Touvinen and Jatta Leinonen from Finland, finished the 380-metre course in one minute and 45 seconds \u2014 earning a barrel of local beer as their prize. The event’s been held annually since 2008.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The lighthearted event is inspired by a Finnish legend and encourages silly costumes and creative carrying styles – though most racers opt for the traditional upside-down \u201cEstonian hold.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
