A Yellow Heat Warning has been issued for Chatham-Kent and area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Environment Canada<\/a> has issued the heat warning for today and tomorrow, with daytime highs reaching 32 degrees and the humidex making it feel as warm as 38. Overnight temperatures won\u2019t offer much relief, with lows around 21 to 22 degrees. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in cool or shaded areas. Check on older adults, people living alone and others who may be more vulnerable to the heat. Municipal centres and libraries are also available as cooling locations during open hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today, September 1st, marks the first day of meteorological fall. Unlike astronomical fall, which begins with the autumnal equinox later this month, meteorologists divide the seasons into three-month periods based on the calendar. Meteorological fall runs from September 1 through November 30.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The water restrictions have been lifted in Chatham-Kent \u2014 so yes, you can shower and do laundry again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The municipality lifted the emergency restrictions 9:50 Monday morning, after a week of problems with the main water transmission line feeding the Chatham Water Treatment Plant. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although residents can now resume normal water use, CK has implemented regular lawn watering restrictions for the next several days. Odd-numbered addresses can water on odd-numbered days, and even-numbered addresses on even-numbered days. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

School buses will be back on the roads a week from today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The OPP<\/a> is reminding drivers that when you see a bus flashing its amber lights, slow down and be prepared to stop. Once the bus stops and its red lights are flashing or stop arm is out, you must stop and remain stopped until the lights are off and the stop arm is withdrawn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That applies whether you\u2019re behind the bus or approaching it. On roads without a physical median, traffic in both directions must stop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Drivers caught passing a stopped school bus can face a $490 fine and six demerit points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
