The 2026 International Plowing Match & Rural Expo<\/a> is underway today in Walkerton, Bruce County.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are plowing competitions, a range of activities for people of all ages, numerous opportunities to learn about agriculture, near-constant live entertainment in multiple Match venues, hundreds of vendors and exhibitors. It runs until Saturday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It’s Rail Safety Week, running through September 27th, with Operation Lifesaver Canada<\/a> reminding Canadians to make safe choices around railway tracks and crossings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

More than 2,100 people are killed or injured every year in railway crossing and trespassing incidents across North America. More than 60% of collisions happen at crossings equipped with lights and or gates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Safety officials say to always expect a train, stay alert around tracks, and remember trains have the right of way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Ontario, drivers should stop at least five metres from the nearest rail, and never go around a lowered or lowering gate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trains can travel on any track, in either direction, at any time \u2014 and they can\u2019t stop quickly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The message this Rail Safety Week: look, listen, live \u2014 and make the safe choice around trains and tracks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The home of the Detroit Tigers<\/a> is getting a new name.<\/p>\n\n\n

Comerica Park<\/a> will become Fifth Third Park starting next season. The change follows Fifth Third Bank\u2019s merger with Comerica, which was completed earlier this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Comerica Park has been the Tigers\u2019 home since 2000, and the original naming-rights agreement was extended through 2034. The Tigers say new signage will be installed during the offseason, with the new name in place for opening day next March. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
