It’s a test of a system that would issue a warning about a crisis, such as a missile launch, or a tsunami.<\/p>\n

The message will read: \u201cTHIS IS A TEST of the National Wireless Emergency Alert System. No action is needed.\u201d<\/p>\n

The test was originally scheduled for September 20th, but was pushed back two weeks because of ongoing response efforts to Hurricane Florence, according to FEMA<\/a>.<\/p>\n

And no, Trump won\u2019t be able to use the system to broadcast his tweets. The law states, \u201cThe public alert and warning system shall not be used to transmit a message that does not relate to a natural disaster, act of terrorism, or other man-made disaster or threat to public safety.\u201d President Trump will have sole responsibility for when the emergency system will be used.<\/p>\n

On October 3 at 2:18 pm, FEMA will send its first nationwide test of its presidential alert system, which lets the president send a message to every phone in the US in the event of a national emergency https:\/\/t.co\/FB3zxb0utn<\/a><\/p>\n
