Loretta Lynn has accomplished a lot in her life, but she will experience a first — her very first birthday party — on April 1st in Nashville. The legend will be celebrated by some of country music’s biggest stars, including Alan Jackson, Brandy Clark, Darius Rucker, Garth Brooks, George Strait, Jack White, Kacey Musgraves, Keith Urban, Little Big Town, Margo Price, Martina McBride, Miranda Lambert, Pistol Annies and Trisha Yearwood at “Loretta Lynn: An All-Star Birthday Celebration Concert,” taking place at Bridgestone Arena. Net proceeds from ticket sales benefit the Opry Trust Fund and the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, and fans can begin purchasing those tickets on Friday, January 18th.

Loretta took part in a press conference at the Grand Ole Opry on Monday, January 14th to announce the news, where she was surprised by Garth Brooks and was presented with a cake decorated with a picture of herself and the names of all the artists taking part in the event. The cake’s icing was done in her favourite colour, lavender. She said,

“I am so excited to celebrate my 87th birthday with all my friends. This is the first time I’ve ever had a birthday party! My birthday wish has come true. The only other wish I have is that Keith Urban jumps out of my birthday cake!”

Loretta will be 87 this year, but she’s definitely not slowing down career-wise. She told reporters that she’s been busy writing songs.

“I’ve done quite a bit. I want to get back into it real good though like I used to write. I used to write all the time. Now I’m just writing when I want to and that’s not good, cause I don’t want to!”

Loretta is nominated for Best Country Solo Performance for “Wouldn’t It Be Great?” at next month’s Grammy Awards. She said it’s the last song she wrote for her late husband.
