How Garth Brooks Asked Blake Shelton To Duet
July 6, 2019 7:00 amGarth Brooks knew he wanted to collaborate with Blake Shelton after watching him perform on an award show earlier this year.
“I was watching the ACMs this year, and there was something in Blake’s face, man. When he was singing ‘God’s Country,’ I looked at his face and said, ‘This guy is believing every word and it’s got him.’ When a song gets a singer, when it grabs a singer, you can see it in their face. And this guy wasn’t just performing – he was living and breathing it. So I called him up right after – I said, ‘Hey, man.’ I said, ‘I don’t know if you’d ever think of somethin’ this crazy, but I’ve got this song called ‘Dive Bar’.”
Garth and Blake will team up to perform the song live and shoot a video for it during Garth’s Stadium Tour stop in Boise, ID on July 19th.
