Erich Church Blown Away By Tribute Video
October 2, 2019 5:13 amEric Church was celebrating his latest two Number One hits — “Round Here Buzz” and “Some Of It” — at a party in Nashville when his label surprised him with a tribute video of sorts.
Fellow artists like Keith Urban, Kenny Chesney, Tim McGraw, Maren Morris, Thomas Rhett, Kip Moore, Ashley McBryde, Cole Swindell, Luke Combs, Jason Aldean, and Ray Wylie Hubbard thanked Eric for inspiring them to chase a musical dream and praised him for his passion and artistic integrity. Keith said,
“The thing I’ve always admired about Eric is the truth in his calling… He’s non-categorizable. Record to record, he’s gonna infuse whatever is speaking to him at any given time into what he’s doing, but his narrative as a writer and his voice is the through line for me. Everything I hear of his, that rock-steady Northern Star that connects all the different experiments that he has in record making is great songs… They should all go number one, Eric.”
Eric was a bit speechless after watching the video, ultimately addressing the subject before the crowd of partygoers.
“That video was one of the coolest things – no, that’s about the coolest thing I’ve been a part of. My intention was to try to make great music, write great songs. And to see it matter is something . . . I will say this after seeing the video; I’m not done. I’m not retiring. I’m not dying, so I appreciate that. I appreciate that very much, and I look forward to kicking their asses every night on stage.”
Eric returns to the road this weekend as one of the first few concerts at San Francisco’s brand-new Chase Center, which opened earlier this month.
