Chris Stapleton Tackles Pandemic By Mountain Biking
September 8, 2020 8:45 amChris Stapleton was recently promoting his upcoming album “Starting Over” and he was asked if he has any doubts about releasing it in the middle of a pandemic.
He said everybody has doubts these days about everything, and if they tell you they haven’t reached a breaking point, they’re lying.
He’s been coping with it all by riding his mountain bike in the woods.
“It’s helped tremendously in a ‘centering’ kind of way.”
One of the songs is called, “Watch You Burn” and he wrote it after the Route 91 shooting.
It opens with the lyrics, “Only a coward would pick up a gun, and shoot up a crowd trying to have fun.”
He talked about the Black Lives Matter movement, and how it’s turned his reality upside down.

I feel like the country that I thought that we were living in was a myth. Do I think Black lives matter? Absolutely. I don’t know how you could think they don’t. We all have a lot of work to do, as individuals and as a society. And if you don’t think that, I think you’re not looking.”
