HAL KETCHUM passed away on Monday due to complications from dementia. He was 67. His wife shared the news on Facebook. It was back in April that she announced he had Alzheimer’s and was retiring.
Hal had 11 Top 30 hits in the ’90s, including “Small Town Saturday Night”, “Past the Point of Rescue”, and “Hearts Are Gonna Roll”. He released 11 albums, and was inducted as a member of the Grand Ole Opry in 1994.
His career slowed down in the late ’90s as he suffered through a series of health issues. He was diagnosed with the spinal condition acute transverse myelitis, which caused temporary paralysis of his left side and he had to relearn how to play guitar.
His last album was “I’m The Troubadour”, which came out in 2014.
