Dolly Parton Gets COVID Vaccine
March 3, 2021 5:14 amDolly Parton received her Moderna Covid vaccine on Tuesday, March 2nd at Nashville’s Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
She shared a picture of herself receiving the injection, as well as a video encouraging everyone to get the vaccine on social media.
Moderna is the vaccine that researchers at Vanderbilt were working on thanks in part to Dolly’s $1 million donation last year.
In the photo, Dolly is getting the vaccine from her friend and Vanderbilt researcher Dr. Naji Abumrad.
She captioned it with, “Dolly gets a dose of her own medicine.”
The video also shows Dolly getting the shot, and asking others to do the same.
“I’ve been waiting a while. I’m old enough to get it and I’m smart enough to get it, so I’m very happy that I’m gonna get my Moderna shot today, and I want to tell everybody that you should get out there and do it, too. I even changed one of my songs to fit the occasion. It goes, ‘Vaccine, vaccine, vaccine, vaccine, I’m beggin’ of you please don’t hesitate/ Vaccine, vaccine, vaccine, vaccine, cause once you’re dead then that’s a bit too late.'”
Other Country icons who recently got their Covid vaccine include Willie Nelson and Loretta Lynn.
