How Luke Combs’ Parents Helped Him Become A Star

In an interview with “Esquire”, Luke Combs said he’s been singing ever since he could talk, but as a kid, he wasn’t sure if he was actually good at it, or if his parents were just LYING to him.

Turns out they actually played a pivotal role more than once.

As an only child, he didn’t have any brutally honest siblings there to weigh in.

He says his parents loved it when he sang, but quote, “everybody’s parents love when they do ANYTHING.”

He eventually got into chorus in the sixth grade, and then school musicals.

His choir performed at Carnegie Hall once, and he had a solo, but even after that, he didn’t have any plans to make it a career.

He went to Appalachian State to get a business degree, then switched to criminal justice and wanted to be a homicide detective.

But his parents stepped in again the summer after his junior year while he was working at a go-kart track.

His mom reminded him he had a guitar in his closet that they bought him in 7th grade. So he picked it back up, learned to play, and the rest is history.
