Morgan Wallen Put On Vocal Rest For Six Weeks

Morgan Wallen’s vocal issues got worse instead of better, and doctors have put him on mandatory vocal rest for six weeks.

You may recall he rested for a bit and then came back, but this time he needs to heal for good.

Here’s what he said in a statement.

“I got some bad news from my doctors at the Vanderbilt Voice Center. After taking ten days of vocal rest, I performed three shows last weekend in Florida and by the third one I felt terrible. So I went in and got scoped and they told me I re-injured my vocal cords and that I have vocal fold trauma. Their advice is to go on vocal rest for six weeks. They want me to NOT talk but said it’s okay if I need to for something like this.”

He also revealed that he tore a chest muscle while on tour in Australia.

“I’ve been trying to work through that quietly, but this time off is going to help me get that back right as well.”

He’s working on rescheduling all of his shows, except the festivals. He said he’s working to make those dates up next year.

Morgan also won’t be at the ACM Awards on Thursday, May 11th, and he’s ALSO missing today’s ACM Lifting Lives event.

It’s pretty clear this is serious business. Doctors said he’ll be okay if follows their instructions, but if he keeps singing, he’ll permanently damage his voice.

“So for the longevity of my career, this is the choice I have to make. I hate it, but I love you guys and appreciate the support you always give me. I’ll be back better than ever.”

Kenny Chesney is already listed as his replacement at Gulf Coast Jam on June 3rd.

According to Morgan’s tour page, he’ll return to the stage later THAT month when he does two shows at Chicago’s Wrigley Field, on June 22nd and 23rd.
