Darius Rucker Breaks Silence On Drug Arrest

Darius Rucker’s new memoir “Life’s Too Short” came out yesterday.

He talks about breaking into country music, his time with Hootie, and how he partied WAY too hard back then.

Meanwhile, he’s also dealing with more recent issues and finally broke his silence on his drug arrest in February.

He told “People” magazine he was shocked because of how long ago the actual incident happened.

Daris was arrested on February 1st, almost a year after being pulled over near Nashville for expired tags.

“I had a little bit of pot, and I think a little bit of some mushrooms or something in the car, and [the cop] let me go. And a year later, I got a phone call from a buddy that said, ‘I think I just saw an arrest warrant for you.'”

He says some friends in law enforcement told him it’s odd for that much time to pass, and asked if maybe he’d ticked somebody off or something.

“I think somebody wanted to make an example out of me, and they did. I’m handling it with my lawyers and paying the price, and we’ll move on with our lives.”

He added that “it sucks” though, because he’s never had issues with the law before this.

“57 years, never seen inside of a police car or jail.”
