East Tennessee Children’s Hospital Renamed In Honor Of Dolly Parton
March 2, 2026 10:30 amThe East Tennessee Children’s Hospital in Knoxville will now be called the Dolly Parton Children’s Hospital, honouring the 80-year-old country star’s longtime commitment to helping children.
In the video announcement, Dolly stated,
“I’ve always believed that every child deserves a fair chance to grow up, healthy, hopeful and surrounded by love. When we come together for our children, there’s no limit to what we can do.”
The Knoxville facility opened in 1937 and operates as a 152-bed medical center, with Tennessee certifying it as one of four comprehensive regional pediatric centers offering full care capabilities for seriously ill children.
Hospital president and CEO Matt Schaefer said,
“This is more than a name change. With Dolly’s support, we are strengthening our mission to deliver world-class pediatric care to families, ensuring every child who walks through our doors receives the treatment they deserve.”
