Remember That Time The Beatles Went Country?

It might seem like artists crossing into country music is a new trend, but The Beatles first did it over 60 years ago.

In 1965, The Beatles recorded a cover of Buck Owens’ country hit “Act Naturally”.  The song appeared on their album Help!, which also doubled as the soundtrack to their hit movie.

Buck first released “Act Naturally” in 1963, and it quickly climbed to #1 on the country charts.  The song helped launch Buck into one of the biggest country stars of the decade.

But when The Beatles recorded their version, Ringo Starr handled the lead vocals.  It was only the fifth time he had sung lead on a Beatles track at that point.

And then in 1989, Ringo and Buck recorded a duet version of “Act Naturally”, which brought the song full circle.
