600 Pound Fish Feeds Many
October 4, 2021 5:15 amA boat crew from Maine caught a whopping 600-pound tuna while fishing for lobster bait off the coast of Belfast.
They weren’t licensed to catch tuna, so they tried to free the large fish, but it was too tangled up in the net and would have died by the time they untangled it.
Jamie Steeves, owner of J&J Lobsters, contacted the Marine patrol to explain what happened and got permission to harvest and donate the tuna.
They ended up donating it to the Belfast Soup Kitchen, and it became 350 servings of food for the community.
