Solo Sailing And Rescuing Puppies
July 5, 2022 5:15 am1. A guy from Hawaii named Dustin Reynolds recently became the first double amputee to sail solo around the world. It took him seven years, off and on.
He lost his left arm and leg in 2008 when a drunk driver hit him head on while he was riding his motorcycle. But he says he now celebrates that day every year, because it’s the day he decided to start living.
2. Two puppies wandered into an underground den and became stuck behind the 100-pound tortoise it belonged to. The owner of the puppies — who’s also the owner of Oscar the Tortoise — initially thought the puppies would come out on their own, but they remained inside for several hours. San Bernardino County, California, fire officials said that when they went to try to get the pups, the tortoise was blocking the exit. The rescuers attempted to lure Oscar out of the den with watermelon, but he wouldn’t take the bait. The firefighters eventually ended up using shovels to dig a back exit and they were then able to lift the uninjured puppies to safety.
