Ethan Domingos-Shipley an 8 yr. old who lives in England was at the Blue Jay’s game in Toronto Monday and got to meet his favourite player. Former Blue Jay Marcus Stroman who now pitches for the Chicago Cubs.

He made a sign hoping that Marcus would wave at him, and he did much more.

It all started when, just before heading to the game Monday, his Mom posted on Twitter a picture of her son working on his poster —and the fact that Stroman wasn’t scheduled to pitch but how excited they were to be there. Stroman immediately responded and invited them to come down and meet him at field level. The kid was overwhelmed.

She said Ethan has always been a Stroman fan she thinks he likes his approach to the game and interactions with the fans.

Ethan’s Mom is originally from Toronto but moved to England more than 20 years ago. However, they come back to Toronto and try to go to as many games as possible.

So Ethan was very emotional breaking into tears as soon as he noticed Stroman strolling towards them in the stands just before the game Monday. They interacted, Marcus signed his jersey and a ball, and they took pictures together. He’s since been planning on the colour and size of the frame for his jersey, where to place it in the house and where to store the signed ball.

Later Stroman followed up on Twitter and offered Ethan and his family tickets to the Cubs games when they play in London next year.
