A guy named John Wilson and a friend stole several hundred dollars worth of alcohol from a grocery store in Wisconsin last week.
The cops started chasing them, and John got out and ran. And he actually got away . . . until about an hour later, when he surrendered.
Why’d he give himself up? Because there were so many MOSQUITOES swarming in the area that he couldn’t take it anymore.
And he wasn’t kidding. When the cops cuffed him, about 20 mosquitoes swarmed onto his forehead and he asked the cops to wipe them away.
He was charged with fleeing, theft, and obstructing an officer. The cops are still trying to track down his buddy.

TODAY’S GOOD NEWS
A guy who spent nearly three decades in prison was released this week after his conviction was overturned . . . all thanks to an article in “Golf Digest”.
Back in 1992, Valentino Dixon was sentenced to 39 years-to-life for a murder in New York. Then about six years ago, “Golf Digest” did a story on him, because he’s an ARTIST who loves drawing pictures of golf courses.
He’s never played golf in his life. But his jail warden showed him a photo of the 12th hole at Augusta National . . . asked if he could draw it . . . and he became OBSESSED with drawing golf courses after that.
A “Golf Digest” writer named Max Adler did an article about it in 2012, and realized the case against Valentino was REALLY flimsy. There was conflicting testimony, no physical evidence, and another guy had even CONFESSED to the murder. So most of the article ended up being about Valentino’s case instead of his artwork.
After that, other people started looking into it. Then a group of law students at Georgetown spent the past semester trying to prove he was innocent. And they DID it.
The guy who’d confessed was already serving a life sentence for armed robbery. And once he pleaded guilty on Wednesday, Valentino went free after 27 YEARS in jail.

$75 GROCERY BILL
Liberal Leader Philippe Couillard is standing by his claim that $75 is enough for a family of three to feed itself for a week, saying it just requires a lot of work and an eye for bargains.
When presented the grocery question out of the blue during an interview, Couillard answered it would be possible to feed an adult and two teenagers on that amount, acknowledging later to reporters the menu would lack meat and variety.
“You look through all the flyers, and you shop only for what is on sale,” Couillard said. “It’s almost a full-time job.” He gave the example of a roast pork bought on special that is used in macaroni the next day, shepherd’s pie the third day and sandwiches the day after.
One of the authors of Canada’s Food Price Report said $75 would not suffice.
Dalhousie University Prof. Sylvain Charlebois said that in 2017 the bare minimum grocery bill for a Quebec family of two adults and two children, including one teen, would have been $149 a week, double the amount in Couillard’s example for three people.
The only way to make it work on $75 would be to resort to food banks, he said. Otherwise the family would “end up with a diet that has no variety, and the nutritional value would be severely compromised.”
A Quebec family of four last year spent on average $233 a week on groceries, Charlebois said, the third-most per capita after Saskatchewan and British Columbia.
