HowToWatch.com is looking to pay someone $2000 to watch 100 hours of streaming television during October.   As the website’s professional binge-watcher, you will be responsible for judging the quality of seven major streaming platforms—including Hulu with Live TV, PlayStation Vue, and YouTube TV.  You’ll need to watch roughly 14 hours of programming from each service, and everything you tune in to needs to be live.  And you won’t get away with playing the TV in the background while you cook or browse your phone —   The quality of each service must be assessed on a score card.  You will also be expected to post on social media.  Qualifications?  They are looking someone with a strong social media presence, the ability to recognize the difference between a high-quality and low-quality, and a passion for television. The successful candidate must complete their 100 hours of streaming by November 1.

World’s Largest Corpse Flower That Smells Like ‘Rotting Meat’ to Bloom for First Time at Toronto Zoo

For the first time ever, the corpse flower will bloom at the Toronto Zoo, with officials projecting the majority of the plant’s specimens to bloom in the next two weeks. The corpse flower has been recorded as having the world’s tallest bloom. It is also known for its tremendous pungent smell; Toronto Zoo officials have likened it to that of rotting meat. One of the six specimens of the smelly plant, under the care of the Zoo’s horticulture division, has begun its early bloom – four years ahead of schedule.

LAW AND DISORDER

A co-owner of a lobster company in Maine was just busted for embezzling approximately $1.5 million worth of lobsters to sell on the black market.  The other owners eventually caught him . . . and now there’s a criminal investigation and they’re suing him.

A woman who worked behind a grocery store deli counter in Ohio took about three to five slices of meat every day for five years . . . which added up to about $9,200 worth of meat.  So she was just fired . . . and she could be facing theft charges.

————————————————————————

A pair of thieves stole a 16-foot-long spool of turf from in front of a California woman’s home and the theft was caught on a neighbor’s security camera. Madonna Hanes said the 650-pound spool of turf was dropped off at her home in San Diego by a contractor who intended to return and use it to landscape her yard.

A neighbor’s surveillance camera recorded footage of two men pulling up in a Nissan Altima and attempting to shove the spool into their trunk.

The video shows the men drive off with most of the turf dragging behind their car. Hanes said the thieves left a trail of turf that she was able to follow before it vanished.

The homeowner said she is hoping the footage will lead to the thieves being identified.

TODAY’S GOOD NEWS

A 12-year-old girl in New York named Delaney Unger got bone cancer last year in her left knee, and had to have her knee amputated.

But she was a dancer, and knee replacement wasn’t a good option because she was still growing.  So doctors took the bottom part of her leg from the knee down, and attached it at her hip facing BACKWARDS.

So now her calf is the front part of her leg . . . her ankle is her knee joint with her left foot still attached and facing BACKWARDS . . . while the lower part of her left leg is a prosthetic.  It sounds confusing, but she wears a cover over the backwards foot, and can do everything she could do before the surgery.

Her mother Melissa and her doctor Fazel Khan are also in this clip.

WIPING THE SLATE CLEAN ON TOILET PAPER:
The classic debate over which is the correct way to put toilet paper on the holder has been settled. Some say ‘over’.  Some say ‘under’.  Some say ‘personal preference’.

After a study found there can be as many as 19 groups of bacteria on the doors, floors, faucet handles, soap dispensers, and toilets of public restrooms, it has been determined that…brace yourself…OVER is the correct method of installing toilet paper on the holder.

Why?  Picture it: you’re in the bathroom and reach for the TP and the loose end is dangling under the roll. As you reach for it, your fingers, hand, and even the toilet paper graze the wall behind it. Now imagine this happens to everyone who uses that same roll.  And remember, not everyone’s hands are clean, so their germs are more likely to be on the tissue that you are about to use if it is installed on the roll ‘under’ style.

Here’s How Much We Spend Eating Out and Grabbing Coffee Every Year

A new study looked at how much the average person is spending on two things:  Going out to eat . . . and grabbing drinks like coffee and smoothies.  And, spoiler alert:  We’re spending a LOT.

The average person eats at a restaurant or orders takeout or delivery 2.4 times a week, and spends an average of $19.58 each time.  That adds up to about 125 times a year, and costs a total of $2,443.

And we buy drinks like coffee or smoothies 2.5 times a week, at an average of $3.72 cents each time.  That adds up to 130 times a year, and costs us $484.

So when you add it up, we’re spending $2,927-a-year at restaurants and coffee shops.  Which means in the last five years, you’ve dropped $14,635.

  1. Hurricane Florence made landfall on Friday in North Carolina.

At least 18 people have died from the hurricane so far in North and South Carolina.

And around 740,000 homes and businesses still don’t have power.

Florence was downgraded to a tropical depression as the winds slowed down early on Sunday . . . but that doesn’t mean the rain and flooding are going to stop.

And that’s why the National Weather Service called Florence a “storm of a lifetime.”

It’s massive, it moved slowly to keep hitting the same areas over and over, it traveled inland, which caused extreme flooding . . . and it’s still going strong even now that the winds have slowed down.

A typhoon made landfall in Hong Kong and the Southern China mainland yesterday after wreaking devastation in the Philippines. Widespread infrastructure damage has been reported in Hong Kong. The typhoon killed more than 60 and left dozens trapped in landslides. Authorities fear the death toll will rise sharply as emergency workers reach isolated areas.

  1. “The Predator”only made $24 million in its opening weekend.  That was good enough for #1, but the movie is in danger of losing a lot of money.  Did the controversy over a scene featuring a convicted sex offender hurt its bottom line?

  1. Buffalo Bills cornerback Vontae Davis retired at HALFTIME yesterday, when they were losing 28-to-6 against the L.A. Chargers.  Linebacker Lorenzo Alexander had something to say about it after the game.   Davis released a statement later that said after ten seasons of playing through injuires and surgeries, he was done.

Carrie Underwood Had Three Miscarriages in Two Years

Carrie Underwood has said that 2017 was a really tough year, and now we know why. In addition to that horrible fall she suffered outside her Nashville area home, the superstar opened up to CBS Sunday Morning yesterday (Sunday, September 16th) about having suffered three miscarriages over the last two years, including one early in 2018.

An emotional Carrie told Tracy Smith about the painful experiences and how she eventually questioned God. She said, “I had always been afraid to be angry because we are so blessed, and my son, Isaiah, is the sweetest thing. And he’s the best thing in the world. And I’m like, ‘If we can never have any other kids, that’s OK, because he’s amazing.’ And I have this amazing life. Like, really, what can I complain about? I can’t. I have an incredible husband, incredible friends, an incredible job, an incredible kid. Can I be mad? No. And I got mad.”

Of course, Carrie is now pregnant with her second child with husband Mike Fisher. While she hasn’t announced a due date or the baby’s gender, she is waiting to start her new Cry Pretty 360 tour until May. Her new album, also called Cry Pretty, was released on Friday (September 14th).

During some lighter moments from the interview, they visited her hometown of Checotah, Oklahoma . . . and they talked to her mom who admitted that she had low expectations on the whole “American Idol” thing.

She was just hoping the show would give Carrie “face recognition” so she could get job at a news station in Tulsa, Oklahoma.  You may recall Carrie majored in journalism in college hoping to someday work in TV news.
