There’s a restaurant in Montana that offers a birthday discount matching your age . . . if you’re 38 then you get a 38% discount on your birthday, and so forth. And that discount has worked out GREAT for a woman named Helen Self. She just turned 109 . . . so when she went to the restaurant, she didn’t just get her meal free, she also got 9% of the cost back in cash.
She’s actually been going there for her birthday every year since she turned 100.
And the owner says that even though she found a hell of a loophole on the discount, he’s happy to take care of her every year.

There was a chemical weapon explosion in Texas this weekend. There were no casualties, but it must have left quite the smell. A semi was carrying a shipment of Axe Body Spray on Interstate 35 in Belton, Texas on Friday morning when somehow it caught on fire . . . and all that Axe EXPLODED.
Cans of Axe were blowing up and flying everywhere, the truck was completely destroyed, and the highway had to be shut down for hours to clean up the carnage.
But thankfully, no one was hurt . . . the driver got out in time.

ENTERTAINMENT
Geoffrey Owens from “The Cosby Show” was on “Good Morning America” yesterday to talk about being shamed and called out for working at Trader Joe’s. He says he’s been doing that job for more than a year, and lots of people have recognized him, but no one has tried to shame him for it until now and at first it hurt.
Geoffrey said he hopes his story will make people rethink what it means to work . . . quote, “There is no job that is better than another job. It might pay better. It might have better benefits. It might look better on a résumé and a paper.
“But actually, it’s not better. Every job is worthwhile and valuable.”
(He might be doing even better soon, because Tyler Perry just offered him work.)

Legendary Apollo 11 astronaut Edwin “Buzz” Aldrin took a swipe at the upcoming movie “First Man” because of director Damien Chazelle’s decision not to show the planting of the American flag on the moon during the historic 1969 mission. The 88 year-old, who was the second man to step on the moon, posted historical photos of the flag-planting and added the hashtag “Proud to be an American.” Despite the controversy, star Ryan Gosling, a native Canadian, has defended the decision not to portray the flag-planting scene, saying at the Venice Film Festival that the decision was deliberate because the moon landing “transcended countries and borders.”

Two Guys Put Up a Poster of Themselves in a McDonald’s . . . and It’s Stayed Up For Two Months
This is the kind of prank that’s SO well done you can see it winding up with these guys getting job offers.
There’s a 21-year-old guy named Jevh Maravilla who’s a student at the University of Houston. And back in July, he and his friend Christian were eating at McDonald’s when they noticed a blank wall.
They also noticed that there were a ton of other posters on the wall of people eating McDonald’s, but NONE featured Asians like them. So they made their OWN poster, Photoshopped it to look like the other McDonald’s ads on the walls, and had it printed.
Then Jevh got a McDonald’s employee shirt from a thrift store and wore it into the store to hang up the poster. And he made a You Tube video showing the whole mission.
Now it’s almost two months later . . . and the poster is STILL UP.
The story is going viral, so McDonald’s is almost definitely going to have to make some kind of statement about it . . . but really, they should keep the poster up and maybe make more copies of it to put in other stores.
TODAY’S GOOD NEWS
Barber Jason Gauthier is giving more than just fresh cuts to the people of Moose Jaw, Sask. — he hopes to inspire some fresh starts too.
With “Street Cuts,” Gauthier provides barbering and counselling services to the city’s homeless every two weeks. He says they’re hesitant at first but as soon as he says, ‘Hey, my name is Jay. I was homeless. I’m a barber. I want to give back. Is that cool?’ Instantly we’re friends.”
Gauthier’s own past living on the streets and spending five years in prison was part of his inspiration for founding the service. When he was released from prison, Gauthier says he made it his mission to help others and get back on his own feet while doing so.
He started by working for the Salvation Army, trained to become a counsellor and learned to cut hair. He offers free cuts and counselling every second Monday at Riverside Mission in Moose Jaw.
Though Gauthier says he would love to launch the street barbering initiative nationally, his ambitions are more humble than that. He’d just like everyone to be kinder to those in need.

A LITTLE TRIP:
As great as it is to “get away” for a week or two on a big vacation, some professionals are preaching the virtues of the “microvacation”.
What is a microvacation? You might know it as a weekend getaway. Or maybe a three-day weekend getaway.
With many workers claiming that they are afraid to book a whole week off…either due to concerns about job security or because they don’t think they can afford to go away for a week, time-management coach Elizabeth Grace Saunders says that a microvacation is the way to go for these people…or for anyone who feels the need for a break.
She defines microvacations as periods away from work that require you to use a day or less of vacation time. Their short duration comes with a load of benefits: You don’t have to arrange for someone to handle your work; you won’t come back to a mountain of emails; and you can do them a lot more often, which can help you avoid feeling burned out.
The idea is to book a Friday off work, and jet out of town to a destination of your choice on Thursday night, leaving you almost three whole days to relax and recharge your batteries. Oh, and if you aren’t flying somewhere, take a train. Driving can be stressful.

Ray Woolley has been an avid scuba diver for 58 years, and after setting the record last year for being the world’s oldest scuba diver, he broke his own record this past Saturday (September 1st). Woolley dived for 44 minutes at a depth of 133 feet off the coast of Cyprus, where he currently lives. He joined a group other divers to explore the Zenobia, a cargo ship wreck. Woolley told The Telegraph he hopes to be able to break his own record again next year.
