A New Zealand company wants you to pay for your next deep breath. Kiwiana is catching some heat for selling duty-free cans of “pure fresh New Zealand air” at the Auckland airport, according to a tweet by journalist Damian Christie. “You’ve got to be sh—g me. Also, $98 [New Zealand dollars], so not exactly a cute prank gift,” Christie wrote upon seeing the item.

The four-pack, which promises “the purest air you will ever breathe…harvested on the high ridges above the New Zealand snow line,” fetches about $100 New Zealand dollars, or $65 US, and claims to contain 130 to 140 “deep breathes” per can.

A five-month-old Canadian is about to become the youngest person to visit all 50 U.S. states, thanks to her road-tripping parents.

Harper Yeats has been on an epic road trip since she was just eight weeks old, with her parents Cindy Lim and Tristan Yeats.

Both Lim and Yeats are originally from Australia and have been living in Toronto for over three years. Avid travellers, the pair have been sharing Harper’s road trip on social media.

Lim said it wasn’t until they crossed the border and looked into the All Fifty States Club that they had the idea of Harper becoming the youngest person in the club.

The family plans to complete their journey by stopping in their final state, Vermont, on Oct. 18.

“Venom” made another $35.7 million this past weekend, which was enough to win the box office for the second straight week.  It’s also the second straight week that it beat “A Star Is Born”.

“First Man” came in third, which was a disappointment.  It only made $16.5 million in its first week, despite having a budget of $60 to $70 million.

  1. NEW:  “Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween”, $16.2 million.
  2. “Smallfoot”, $9.3 million.  Up to $57.6 million in its 3rd week

  • “Grouch Day”, a day to be grumpy, ungrateful, and cantankerous, and a day to allow grouches everywhere time to spout off.

  • “Cheese Curd Day”, cheese curds are the moist pieces of curdled milk either eaten alone as a snack, or used for other things. These are chiefly found in Quebec, Canada, in the dish poutine (made of french fries topped with cheese curds and gravy), and in the northeastern and midwestern United States. Curds are sometimes referred to as “squeaky cheese”

FINISH WHAT I STARTED:
Have you had a chance to play with Google’s new ‘Smart Compose’ feature yet?

The Gmail service, which was announced in May, was recently rolled out to a larger group of users.  It’s a little freaky, a little creepy.  It doesn’t exactly compose your emails for you, but as it learns what you typically write, and how you write it, it starts to get pretty close.   The program uses machine learning techniques to evaluate what you are typing — and then suggests what to type next based on that analysis.

Gmail’s text suggestions appear in slightly lighter gray type at the end of the sentence you are writing. If you want to accept the computer-generated words, you can, and then move on to the next sentence.

In theory, the Smart Compose tool can speed up your message composition and cut down on typos.

HOW TO CHARGE YOUR PHONE FASTER:
Airplane mode:  The less your phone processor is doing, the faster it will charge. So, putting it into airplane mode can help, but will mean no internet or cellular connectivity.  (You CAN go a few minutes without it, can’t you?)

Don’t light up the screen:  The screen is the biggest battery drain, so resist the urge to keep looking at it, if you can.  (I said, you CAN go a few minutes without it, can’t you?)

→ At least turn off Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS and NFC:  If the temptation to use your phone while it is charging is too much, turn off those battery-draining features to help it charge faster.  (I’m pretty sure I can do without NFC, being that I have no idea what it does…)

→ Use the ‘fast charging’ feature:  Phone manufacturers have made fast charging a priority in recent years.  Some brands include this feature, which can boost your phone’s charge by 50% in 30 minutes.

→ Get a different plug:  While Apple smartphones don’t have a fast-charge feature built in, iPhone users can charge their devices quicker by using the wall plug that comes with an iPad. Their larger five-volt/2.4-amp bricks charge the company’s phones faster.

DIERKS BENTLEY ‘COMES ALIVE’ OUT WEST – (10/03/2018)

Dierks Bentley has a deep connection to the mountains out West. He grew up in Arizona, climbing those mountains and exploring everything the outdoors had to offer. Mountain living was the impetus that eventually formulated Dierks’ latest album, The Mountain, so it was a very natural thing.

FAST FACTS

Dierks is nominated for a handful of CMA awards, including album of the Year for The Mountain, as well as Male Vocalist and Musical Event of the Year for “Burning Man” with Brothers Osborne. The CMA Awards will be broadcast live from Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena November 14th at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.

Kane Brown Is Married . . . And He Got a Tattoo of His Wife’s Name

KANE BROWN and his fiancée Katelyn Jae got married on Friday at a farm near Nashville.

And he’s already showing off a tattoo of her name that he got on the side of his hand.

As far as a honeymoon, they’re all about peace and quiet.

Quote, “We chose someplace that we both love and can just completely relax and spend time appreciating nature, each other . . . and no cell service.”

It looks like they’re going to be off the grid for at least a couple of weeks.  His short film debuts November 2nd, and his new album will drop a week after that.

Somebody Stole $5,000 of Gear from Lindsay Ell’s Rental Car

Somebody broke into LINDSAY ELL’s rental car while she was at a writing session in L.A.  She posted a photo of herself at the airport looking pretty bummed.

She wrote, “My full backpack got stolen.  My wallet.  Lost about $5,000 of gear.  Still have my guitars.  The only part I’m really sad about is losing song and picture files that were on my hard drive and I hadn’t backed up yet.”

The only bright side is that people heard about it and reached out pretty quickly.  Someone even arranged for her to pick out a new backpack.
