On Today’s Show

During the Boston Red Sox World Series parade yesterday fans kept throwing BEER CANS at their own players and coaches.
At some point, it apparently became cool to toss a beer to the guys on the floats. Maybe it’s funny if they catch them and drink them . . . but HURLING FULL BEER CANS is NOT safe.
Mookie Betts was almost taken out by some beers . . . and thankfully one of them was deflected by another, quick-thinking person on the float.
Manager Alex Cora was hit with in the back with an open beer, and he was NOT amused. He stared down the person who threw it, and pointed them out.
And the World Series trophy was DAMAGED by a flying beer can. You can see how it bent and broke part of the trophy. The team says that it’s a minor thing, and it can be fixed.

The Royal Canadian Legion has made ‘digital poppies’ available to Canadians in time for Remembrance Day on November 11. Digital poppies can be created, dedicated, and shared via social media, and personalized with stories and images. This is the first-time online donations have ever been accepted by the Legion’s national poppy fund, which helps pay for services for veterans and their families.
The digital poppy campaign is being backed by prominent Canadians including Margaret Atwood, Justin Bieber and more. But don’t worry, traditional poppies are in no danger of going extinct. This new initiative is about reaching out to an audience that isn’t being reached at the moment. My poppy . ca

New research has found that taking a warm bath twice a week may help to relieve symptoms of depression. Even more so than exercise. Trial subjects were assigned to either soak in a bath for up to 30 minutes twice a week or to take part in two 45-minute sessions of moderately intense aerobic exercise (walking, jogging, stretching and strength training). They found that those who took regular baths saw a significant improvement in their depression score, a reduction of nearly six points, compared to a three-point improvement for those who exercised. The researchers suggest that taking warm baths may help those suffering from depression because it changes our circadian rhythm (or “body clock”) that tells us when to eat and sleep, which is disturbed among people who suffer from depression.

He was “Easy Reader.” He told Jimmy Kimmel about a long autograph session at a mall back in the day, and when he left, he saw the autographs he’d signed lying on the floor.

Things You May Not Have Known About “The Dukes of Hazzard”
Here are some facts you may not have known about “The Dukes of Hazzard”:
- CBS hated the show: Network Chairman William Paley told “People”magazine in 1981 that he thought it was lousy and he didn’t get the appeal. Of course, it ran from 1979 to 1985, so what did he know?
- The General Lee was more popular than the actors: The 1969 Dodge Charger was getting 35,000 fan letters a month at one point, with people asking for pictures and information about it. They went through more than 300 General Lees:
- JOHN SCHNEIDERlied about being a country boy to get on the show: He was born and raised in New York, but when he showed up at his audition, he was unshaven, had a can of beer in his hand, and was even chewing tobacco. He claimed to be from a small town in Georgia.
- The guys sliding over the hood started as an ACCIDENT: TOM WOPATsays, quote, “We were coming out of a recording studio, and we had to run down a hill and jump into the car. “In rehearsal, I jumped on the front fender and across the car in one hop. When I do it [in the actual filming], I was wearing cowboy boots, and when I hit the fender my foot slipped out from under me.”
Wopat opened a four-inch gash in his arm, but they decided to stick with it because, quote, “It looked great!”

TODAY’S GOOD NEWS
As you know, the shooting at a Jewish temple in Pittsburgh left 11 people dead on Saturday.
But a few hours after the attack ended, two charities launched a fundraising campaign to raise money for the victims’ families. And they’re both MUSLIM charities.
Now, obviously those two communities have a long and complicated history. And that’s kind of the point of the fundraiser . . . to show that no matter what your religion is, we should all have each other’s backs.
They started out trying to raise $25,000, and hit that goal in about six hours. And by last night, it was up to almost $225,000.
They’re accepting donations through next Tuesday.
All the money will go to cover any short-term needs the victims and their families have, like funeral expenses and medical bills.

Things That Always Go on Sale in November
It’s November but you don’t have to wait until Black Friday to score a good deal this month. Here are five things that always go on sale in November.
- Halloween costumes and decorations. The holiday is over, so if you have the space to store stuff until next year, you can score some great savings.
- Cars. If you’re open to buying last year’s model, now is the best time to start shopping. 2018 models were introduced a few months ago, so there’s increasing pressure on dealerships to make room by the end of the year.
- Groceries. Grocery stores want you to do your holiday shopping with them. So they mark down staples like flour and sugar . . . or even offer free turkeys . . . to get you in the door.
- Kitchen appliances and cookware. Same as with grocery stores, department stores and places like Bed, Bath & Beyond want to get you in for Thanksgiving shopping, hoping you might also do some Christmas shopping while you’re there.
- TVs. Televisions are always a big deal on Black Friday. But you can get good deals all month long as retailers try to clear the way for new models.

Titanic II Will Set Sail with Same Number of Guests and Crew as Original—and One Big Difference
A replica of the infamous passenger ship — dubbed the Titanic II — is set to make its first voyage in 2022. It will welcome 2,400 passengers and 900 crew members, almost the exact same number of each on board the boat that sunk in 1912.
This time around, however, the ship will include an appropriate number of lifeboats, life jackets and plenty of modern safety features.
The Titanic II will first take a two-week trip from Dubai to Southampton, England. The ship will then trace the original Titanic’s planned route from England to New York across the icy North Atlantic.
After which it plans to offer worldwide cruises.

- The Boston Red Sox had their championship parade yesterday, and the classy fans kept pelting the floats with BEER CANS. Mookie Bettswas almost hit, Alex Cora WAS hit, and the World Series trophy was damaged.
- “Jeopardy!”and “Wheel of Fortune” aren’t going anywhere any time soon. ALEX TREBEK, PAT SAJAK, and VANNA WHITE have all re-upped through 2022. There’s no word how much their deals are worth.
- William Daniels from Boy Meets World is 91, and talked to GOOD MORNING AMERICA” yesterday about a guy who tried to rob his house in LA on Saturday night. He joked that he beat the guy up, but really he just scared him away.
- This is scarier than anything on Halloween. A mom in New York realized recently that someone had hacked into her family’s nanny cam, and was using it to talk to her son. It’s one of those Nest cameras you can communicate through. And the guy was asking scary questions, like whether the kid rides the bus home from school.
- Ever wanted to wear shoes that make you look like you’ve got DEFORMED ALIEN FEET? Well you’re in luck.
A fashion company in Montreal just created “Skin Heels”. They’re high heels that look just like bare feet, so it’s hard to tell you’re wearing a shoe. But it makes it look like a giant skin heel is growing out of your foot.
So far they’ve only made a prototype, but they’re planning to start producing more . . . and selling them for $10,000.
