A teenager in Germany recently lost his driver’s license less than an hour after passing the exam to earn it, getting caught doing nearly double the speed limit on the way home.

He was doing 95 km/h in a 50 km/h zone, which in Germany was enough for him to lose his license and extend the probationary period he’d be classified a new driver for from two years to four.

He has been banned from driving for four weeks, and will only receive his license back after being re-trained. He was also fined 200 Euros ($300).

Four people were in the car when they were caught speeding, suggesting the young man driving the car was showing off to his peers.

While losing your license for a speeding infraction seems a little harsh, he was moving pretty fast. And having the thing confiscated officially 49 minutes after getting it? That must be a record.

With typical German humour, the arresting officer wrote on the ticket: “Some things last forever—others not for an hour.” Hilarious.

Disney released the first trailer for the “Lion King” remake over the weekend, and it almost broke a record.  The trailer got 224.6 million views within 24 hours.

That’s just short of the 238 million views that the “Avengers: Infinity War” trailer got in its first 24 hours.

The “live-action” CGI remake of “The Lion King” opens July 19th.

It stars the voices of Donald Glover as Simba, James Earl Jones as Mufasa, and Beyoncé as Nala.

This new “Lion King” trailer repeats a lot of imagery from the trailer for the 1994 original . . . and someone has already made a video comparing the two side by side

Peyton Manning talked about that old “Saturday Night Live” skit where he was a United Way volunteer.  They wanted him to throw fake footballs at kids’ faces, but he didn’t want to do it until a parent goaded him into it.

One of the “Storage Wars” Guys Sold a Unit for $500 . . . And It Had $7.5 Million Inside

“Storage Wars” star DAN DOTSON recently sold off a storage unit for $500 . . . and later found out that it had $7.5 million in it.

The money was inside a safe.  It’s not clear whether Dotson knew the safe was in there, or why he didn’t try to open it himself.  But the new owner did, and found the cash.

But soon after finding the money, the new owner got a call from an attorney representing the ORIGINAL owners of the unit . . . a.k.a. the people that money actually belonged to.

They offered the new owner $600,000 to return the cash . . . but the two sides eventually settled on $1.2 million.

Here’s something you might be wondering:  If YOU found that cash, and it was legally yours, why would you return it for ANYTHING?  Why not just keep the $7.5 million?  The law is on your side, right?

Well, Dotson and his wife Laura summed it up in a YouTube video:  The money was probably DIRTY.  Why else was that kind of cash stuffed in a storage unit and not a bank?

So if you keep that cash, who knows who might be coming after you?  This way, the dude gets to walk away with $1.2 million in his pocket, instead of looking over his shoulder for the rest of his life.

TODAY’S GOOD NEWS

A lady in northern California named Char Rostomily recently got tested to see if she could donate to her adult daughter, Nikki.

And they weren’t a match, but Nikki ended up getting a kidney from someone else. Then later on, Char was still inspired to donate.  So she signed up to give one of her kidneys to someone totally random.

She didn’t even get their name. But then on the day of the surgery back in April, her grandkids were telling their friends from school about it. And it turned out their friends’ grandfather was the RECIPIENT.  And he’s also one of Char’s NEIGHBORS.

His name is Richard Green, and they’d never met before.  But she’d gone on field trips with his grandkids.  And one of Char’s daughters teaches at their school. She says she only donated as a way of giving back after her daughter got a kidney.

But now the two families feel like they’re bonded for life.  And she’d be thrilled if the story inspires even one other person to become a living donor.

SWEAT DREAMS:

How often do you wash your bed sheets?  Probably not often enough – and it could be triggering allergies and other problems, according to experts with IFLScience.

They found that over the course of a year, your bed is soaked in up to 100 litres of sweat, plus about a pound of skin – making it an ‘ideal fungal culture medium’.

Your bed also probably contains bacteria, soil, sweat, sputum and a bunch of other things that I’m not even going to get into, because if I do, you aren’t going to want to get into your bed.

And your pillow?  It can alone can hold up to sixteen species of fungus.

Scientists say that you should wash your sheets and pillow case weekly

Five Things in Your Bathroom You Should Throw Away

Here are five bathroom items you should toss, besides your old ratty toothbrush . . .

  1. Old cases for your contact lenses.  Bacteria from your hands gets in there, and it’s basically impossible to get them totally sterile again.  So you’re supposed to use a new case every three months.

  1. Cosmetics that have changed color, odor, or consistency.  The oil that’s in them can go bad, and they can start to grow bacteria.

  1. Acne products that have been open for a while.  The kinds with benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid start to decay pretty quickly.  They’re only good for about 4 to 6 months after you open them.

  1. The bottle of rubbing alcohol or hydrogen peroxide you bought years ago.  They don’t go bad, but they lose potency.  There should be an expiration date on the bottle.

  1. Expired medications.  Don’t worry TOO much.  A Harvard study found 90% of them are still safe and relatively effective even 15 YEARS after they expire.  But a few you should NEVER use past their expiration date are insulin, liquid antibiotics, and certain heart medications or anything else with nitroglycerine in it.

TIM McGRAW SAYS ALEX HONNOLD’S STORY INSPIRED HIM TO WRITE ‘GRAVITY’ –

Tim McGraw was a bit hesitant about getting involved with the soundtrack for the National Geographic Documentary Films’ feature Free Solo, which is about free soloist climber Alex Honnold who achieves his lifelong dream of climbing the face of the world’s most famous rock – the 3,200-foot El Capitan in Yosemite National Park – without a rope. At the time he was approached, Tim says he was pretty busy with his own project, not to mention the fact he knew nothing about the movie’s subject.

Tim co-wrote the song “Gravity” with Lori McKenna (“Humble and Kind,” “Girl Crush”).

Free Solo opened in theaters last month.
